YAY! SO EXCITING!

Friday the 15th? Any other good vegan options or should we stick with Busboys and Poets? Science Club, maybe?

Government contracting! I'm a certified COR so I feel your pain.

I'd be into Science Club if only because it's extremely walkable from my place :P

Hey, I'm your civilian counterpart! [solidarity fist-bump] Don't you love explaining this job to other people? I've just started saying that I do paperwork for a living. Easier than bringing up the FAR. ;)

So yes, let's aim for Science Club on Friday 5/15 -- zombieflanders and I had dinner there the last time I was in town and I'm still dreaming about the grilled tofu skewers. I'll try to find an AirBNB in the District proper after the work portion of my trip has drawn to its merciful close.

Can't wait to see you guys!

Woo! Count me in as another vote for Science Club...and for complaining about government contracting procedures.

While there we should corner somebody at Science Club and explain to them Flash websites stopped being cool in 2005. Anyway, I work in DuPont Circle so I'd be kind of lame if I couldn't make it.

Do any of you fine MeFites have any recommendations for a neighborhood in the metro area that's very close to a blue/yellow line stop and somewhat close to DCA (because I have to be there at 5 AM on Sunday) but not too spendy? I'm AirBNB hunting for Friday and Saturday and have no idea where to look. Maybe Arlington/Crystal City?

Thank you kindly for any advice you might have. See you all in a month!

Maybe try Del Ray, down by the Braddock Road metro. It's pretty affordable and unlike Pentagon City/Crystal City it's also walkable and there's stuff to do.

If you're getting a 5:00 a.m. flight on a Sunday, you're probably looking at getting to the airport via cab, Uber, or something similar as Metro won't yet be open. A friend lives in Alexandria and says it's pretty close to DCA and it sounds like it has had a bit of a renaissance lately in terms of new bars and restaurants opening.

I will try to make it!

Just wanted to say that we were on vacation last week and it was GLORIOUS and Bulgaroktonos and I are both back at work now and the eight hours of work yesterday were objectively longer than the entire vacation and knowing I have this meetup to which to look forward is about the only thing keeping me from saying "fuck it" and moving to Lisbon.

Welcome back! If you need a mid-week happy hour excursion, you know where to find me. (Spoiler alert: Old Town Alexandria.)

LOVE. Cannot wait to see you guys!!

Hey, seeing as we've got twelve attending and twenty maybes so probably like twenty-ish people altogether, I think I'll email Science Club just to let them know -- I'll post here if they assign us a room or something.

Thanks for taking care of that, Mrs. P!

Oooh they're giving us a room and dedicated staff! There should be signs for "MetaFilter" in the foyer.

Ooh, fancy! I'm way out in the hinterlands of Franconia so I'll probably get there a bit early or a bit late. See y'all soon!

Even though I work 2 blocks away, I live 50 miles away, and I'm not sticking around town tonight. Have fun!

TOTALLY forgot this was tonight, rats. Hmm, if I can find a way to kill the next 2.5 hours, I might be able to make it.

We will probably be headed to a bar nearby soon to wait if you're looking for company!

We are here! We're on the first floor near the door. I am wearing a purple shirt and Bulgaroktonos is in blue checks and everybody had matching towels is in a purple cardigan and a fun printed top with elephants.

I am at the Farragut West Metro awaiting the interminable train back to Franconia, listening to the incredible new Twiztid record (whoop whoop!) and I just want to say that a) I love you all and b) see you tomorrow. Thank you for being the best best people.
