Let's go to Watts Towers!
The Watts Towers structure consists of seventeen major sculptures of steel, covered with mortar and embellished by decorative finishings of mosaic tiles, glass, clay, shells, and rock. This folk art employs assemblage construction. There are three tall spires, several small towers, two walls, gazebo, patio, ship, and other structures. In addition to the towers, the The Watts Towers Arts Center is the home of International Ethnic Instrument Collection consisting of 144 primarily non-western instruments collected from around the world. The site is open to the public Wednesday-Sunday. Since we're probably looking at a weekend date, the hours are 10am-4pm on Saturday and 12pm - 4pm on Sunday.
Tour guides takes groups of up to 20 through the towers every 30 minutes or so from 10:30 - 3:00 on Saturday and 12:00 - 3:00 on Sunday. Tours are on a first come, first served basis.
Admission is $7 for adults, $3 for seniors and children (children under 12 free!)
Watts Towers Art Center (WTAC) is located in Watts (1727 E 107th St. Los Angeles, CA 90002), which is off the 105 between the 110 & the 710. The Metro Blue Line [PDF] also stops at WTAC.

I know Deoridhe expressed a preference for Sundays, which works for me. I'm also open to whatever everyone agrees on.

*There is another meetup in Anaheim on June 29th so that's probably not a good date. (I'm hoping to go myself if the logistics work out.)

I'd love to come. I've been working a lot of weekends and often don't know my work schedule until a day or two before, so I'll have to play it by ear.

Toward the end of the month my parents are coming into town, so I may end up bringing extras. 21st/22nd and 5th/6th's would work best for me as well, since before then is the dreaded Cleaning Of The Apartment.

Okay. I totally forgot about Fourth of July weekend, but if Sunday the 6th still works it looks like that would probably be the best for everyone.
After that, we're looking at either June 22 or 29th, but I'd be happy to go an extra week to July 13 so that jetlagaddict and betweenthebars can come.

The more the merrier! If we move it to July 13th, how about doing a Sunday dinner meetup between now and then? My suggestion would be the Indian fusion gastropub in downtown I was talking about -- Badmaash -- but I'd be open to whatever.

There's a nonzero chance I'd have to miss July 13th, but I can certainly try. July 6th is arguably better, but also not a certainty.

I'm here. Looks like plenty of street parking available. I'm chilling out on a bench between the arts center and the towers themselves, under some trees. I think most of you know what I look like but if not, green t-shirt, khaki shorts.

We just met two very nice people who are apparently not Jetlagaddict and +1, although we were somewha confused about this for the first few seconds. A bunch of us went into the visitor's center but I'm hanging out outside for a bit longer. If I'm not outside, I'm probably inside!
