The Much Anticipated NYC Trivia Night

As a result of this post and from the fact that several of us just really wanted trivia to happen already/actually went to the trivia night at this place and had a good time, we are going to try our first NYC MeFite trivia night at Last Exit Bar.
They have trivia nights on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month, and since the one this past Monday didn't work out (except for 1970s Antihero, who I'm told slayed it), we'll try the next one on the 20th, which kind of works out since it's a holiday, and so possibly a lot of the people who normally may not have been able to come could do so.

Last Exit is near the Borough Hall-Court St. (2, 3, 4, 5, N, R) and Bergen St. (F, G) stations. It starts at 9, but registration starts at 8:30 so we should probably all get here by then. There is a $5 charge, and there's a maximum of four to a team, so if a lot of people show up we may have to have more than one MeFite team. However, there is a cash prize involved, so you could choose to keep it for your team or donate it to charity/scholarship for needy MeFites.

And I'd like to suggest, just to make things less messy and the conversation more lively, that should this one not work out, that we keep discussion/ideas on where the next one should be to this post.

Nice work putting this together. I should be able to get there by half 8 and don't mind being a team alone if I end up being the 5th person. I might be house-watching in Battery Park City that week, but could make it despite that.

Ass will be kicked.

Man, this is one of the few nights I can't swing this, and I do so want to frickin' do this but a prior weekly commitment is in place. I might try to get down there later like closer to 10PM if I can, but if not GO METAFILTER, Kick some trivia butt.

I called yesterday to see how long it might be, and the person I got (who normally doesn't work that night) told me that she thought it normally lasts a couple of hours or so. So Skygazer, if you come late and aren't able to join a team you can always cheer us on.

Crap - my cast is only off on a conditional basis for one week (I can take it off only if I'm going to be in one place indoors for a few hours), and I'm really weak and wobbly on it right now, so I think I need to sit out one more week. DAMMIT.

EC -- I might go. I can help you navigate and you can lean on me if so. Mine own child just had her boot cast removed and I have much recent experience if you want a person-who-has-recently-helped-person-with-cast person. I think you're in Manhattan?

Thinkpiece - no, I'm in Brooklyn. And thanks for the offer, but I still think I need to sit this out this week -- I'm pretty unsteady on the foot still. This sounds like it's gonna be a regular Thing, so I'll get another chance.

So, I'm feeling very much under the weather today, so I probably won't be going. It seems like there's enough interest to form a few teams, so I hope y'all have fun and remember to bring pens. Hopefully I'll make the next one.
