Gettysburg Gathering

Come gobble and gab with your fellow MeFites in this cozy historic town this June!
When most people think of Gettysburg, they think of US history: the Battle of Gettysburg, which had the largest number of casualties and was a turning point for the Union in the American Civil War. Indeed, the historical significance of the location is most important -- and as relevant as ever, unfortunately. However, perhaps you did not know that Gettysburg is also a cute little town with cozy cafs and bustling boutiques?!
At last month's lovely meet-up in Harpers Ferry, we discussed another holding a June gathering in Gettysburg as it is a convenient place to converge with lots to do. I hope you consider joining us!
Right now I suggest we meet on Saturday, June 8 or Sunday, June 9 at 11am at Gettysburg Baking Co., which has delicious treats and brunch options as well as large room in the back for get-togethers. We could discuss creative topics like art, writing, zinemaking, and more as well as history, too, of course. Afterwards, we could stroll around downtown or even visit a battlefield if people prefer.
FWIW, the big reenactment isn't until July. There are always lots of summer tourists but we'll be avoiding the busiest time of year. I am available to meet on a weekday as well -- in fact, I'd prefer it -- but know weekends are more convenient for most people!
Parking: There is metered parking around Lincoln Square and along Carlisle Street. The spots are very popular during high tourist season but there is also ample free on-street parking on side streets, especially those closer to Gettysburg College.
EDIT on 5/21/2019: Because Saturday would be best for most, I am confirming the date of our meetup to be Saturday, June 8.

D'oh! This would be great, except that I'm headed to Atlanta that weekend. I'm probably going to stop at Chickamauga on the way down, though, so there should be some sort of spiritual resonance.

I think Saturday would be a bit better for me as well. My 21-yo may be interested in coming as well, esp. if I can pitch it to her as an opportunity to get a couple hours of driving practice in.

Moving us into the yes column! We'll be without kiddo (I don't think she'd love the Greenbelt-Gettysburg driving trip) but looking forward to it!

I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow at 11 in Gettysburg! I plan to stand outside the entrance from 10:50-11:05 to greet people. If you come later, order up front & then join in the backroom!

Also, the baby that decided he was ready to see the world a few weeks early is already here! Right under the wire for a 6/8/19 birthday, and everyone is safe and sound. <3
