ok folks! come out and meet your fellow mefites at Chadra Mezza -- website (beware: music) Monday, Dec 27th at 7pm. Taking the TRE? Let us know in the thread if you need a ride from the station. I will bring my, uh, [looking around] my....long-handled longhorn salt and pepper shakers as a sign that you have found us ;)

Hey, I've never been over here at IRL either. What you learn....
The 27th works pretty well for me but I might could make the 28th work.
My only requirements for places to eat are: not super expensive, quiet enough to talk, decent food of whatever description.

Can you bring a bike, item? Chadra Mezza is a shortish (2.5 mile) ride from the T&P TRE parking lot (the last stop of the TRE). Alternately, someone can probably pick you up at the TRE. (I would offer but if weather is okay I'll be riding my bicycle.)

Hey item, I'll have to drive in anyway, I can pick you up if it ends up being too far for ya--TRE isn't really "close" to lots of eateries, is it? MeMail me if you need it, I'll send you my phone # and we'll set it up.
Re time: if it's the 28th, that's a Tuesday--I can only do dinner if it's 7 or later (got a kid to pick up). Otherwise, I vote lunch or after-dinner drinks.

Hicks from Cleburne are okay, just no hicks from Stephenville. ;-)
I prefer earlier in the day rather than later- lunch or drinks.

There's the T&P Tavern in T&P station, though it looks like it only offers drinks nowadays. Otherwise, both T&P and ITC are relatively close to downtown/Sundance square.
I'd generally prefer dinner on weekdays (I work in Dallas, sadly), but weekends are open, and honestly I've got so many vacation days that are probably going to go to waste if I don't use them soon that if we can firm things up, I can just take the day off.

I haven't been to the T&P but I know someone who lives in the building. I think there is somewhere that serves food in there; I can ask.

I'd love to be there, but it's a few days early for me. The 28th is actually the day we're moving from Ass-Crack, TX (Corpus Christi) to Fort Worth.
I'll keep my eyes open for the next time, and if we get too far down the road without setting another one up I'll take point on it.

T&P Tavern is drafty and cold unless you sit inside the bar proper, and also echo-y. I don't think they serve much if any food.
I like the sound of Chadra Mezza, but it's pretty far from the Saucer, tingting--or did you mean either, not both?

Yeah, 7pm would be great. And Chadra is right near the hospital district, so definitely a bit of ways from the Saucer.

The Saucer has decent food, you know. Definitely pub grub style, but a pretty decent variety including some vegetarian offerings.

Can I propose a possible alternate date? I would totally be able to do the 27th, but I leave on the 28th for a trip. If the 27th doesn't work for more people than the 28th, I totally understand, but I would really like to see another proper DFW meetup.

Nice to meet everyone! I left with my faith in humanity somewhat restored, although slightly disappointed we didn't stay up past midnight drinking. Metafilter needs more people with almost no responsibilities during the week.
