Sat April 23 at 11:00 AM, Gamehaus Cafe
1800 S Brand Blvd, Glendale, CA, USA (Map & Directions)
Hey, it's been a really long time since we did anything. Anyone wanna meet up and play some games?
There were suggestions about pairing this with a food event, which makes good sense but I'm not personally interested in (mostly for financial reasons). But just because I'm not able to do food, I don't want to shout down that suggestion.
With that in mind, I would be willing (happy, even!) to go over there and snag some table space for us when they open, while the rest of folks have lunch. Then when that's all done, there'll be games waiting.
That way people who aren't into the food part can just come game, and we avoid the hassle of pre-paying.

4/22- hey, so i know how much table space to try and claim, could people who know they're coming tomorrow switch from maybe to yes? Thanks!

I love GameHaus and have never done a meet up before. Count me in, schedule permitting.

This is a thing in my wheelhouse. But I can only do Glendale on a weekend.

Also, if it's BYOBG I has things

You're welcome to byobg, but they're well-stocked.

Interested. I'm a westsider with a lot of weekday evening commitments right now, so there's obstacles, but I'm interested.

Do we want to repeat the soup dumplings beforehand as well? That combo was pretty awesome.

Soup dumplings beforehand was pretty awesome. I may or may not be able to make it on account of life stuff (I also may or may not be +1 on account of life stuff) but I am definitely in favor of this idea.

Wow, I did not know a place like this existed. Mind blown!

Not only does it exist, but it's pretty awesome (we've had two or three previous meetups there)!

Definitely maybe for April weekends! ;D Depends on the day+time, as we've got some events here and there, but otherwise for sure.

Okay. April weekend it is!
(Sorry, brujita! I am hoping to start a regular monthly game night on a weeknight, though!)

New scheduling poll!

No +1 for me, but I am totally looking forward to games with you fine people. So far any weekend in April's wide open for me.

Looks like it's either:
Sunday, April 17
Saturday April 23

If anyone has a strong preference for one over the other, let me know in the next couple of days.

Either date works for us. I'll click the official radio button so you have a clear count.

Sorry, ya'll! Last week got away from me. Based on responses I'm setting it for the 23rd, placeholder-ing at 11a.

That way people who aren't into the food part can just come game, and we avoid the hassle of pre-paying for a reserved table.

What do you all think of that?

Aw no, I’ve got a class till 3. Do ya’ll think you’ll still be playing games after then?

Yay! Putting in a horribly early vote for Pandemic, which I've been dying (hee hee) to play for a year now. :D

karanlyons, in my perfect world, I'd be there all day =D

I'm not able to make this one -- :( -- because I'm going to be at a wedding. :)

ApathyGirl, I’m right there with you.

We'll need to cancel - turns out we are going to a birthday party. Hope to make it next time!

Celsius1414: Pandemic is a *ton* of fun (and co-op or all-against-one games as a genre are great!), and the expansion makes some great improvements (otherwise the game becomes fairly easy to “solve”). You won’t be disappointed.

I'm coming, but it won't be until 11:15 or 11:30.

I'm running a bit late too -- similar time to betweenthebars I think, on account of cross-town traffic.

I just sat down. They wanted to know how many people were coming and I told them five based on confirmed attendees -- if we have more than a couple of maybes turned into "yes" this could get interesting?
posted by Alterscape at 11:15 AM on April 23, 2016

Just got out of class, hope you guys are still there.

So sorry Chica and I missed out -- the day got away from us. Let's please do it again in the near future?

Yes, let's, because I want to play Dixit--and also to say hi to all of you fine people! Thanks, ApathyGirl, for organizing this one. We'll look forward to the next time.
posted by chicainthecity at 10:46 AM on April 25, 2016

Well, I'd like to make this a recurring, regular monthly Meetup. In fact... oh hey look!
