Mon November 18 at 7:30 PM, Tommy Doyle's
96 Winthrop Street, Cambridge, MA, USA (Map & Directions)
It's time once again to put on our thinking caps for the Geeks Who Drink trivia THING, Monday at 7:30 at Tommy Doyle's Harvard Square.
In addition, the holiday season is creeping up on us, so we should also talk about future trivia scheduling. Following our every other week schedule would put us skipping Thanksgiving week and meeting next on Dec. 2 and then Dec. 16. However, Horace Rumpole and I will be out of town on the 16th, so somebody else would have to take over organizing and gift card wrangling. We also have New Years to contend with, as the next trivia date would be Dec. 30.

If people want to avoid the holidays altogether, we could skip two weeks and go again on Dec. 9, and then skip 3 weeks and reconvene in the new year on Jan 6.

What do you guys think?

I'm fine with the holiday-skipping schedule, but my trivia attendance rate is only about 50% anyway, so I'm not the best person to decide.

Works for me

I make it to pretty much all of these, and I'd be fine with the holiday-skipping schedule. Besides, I wouldn't be able to make the New Year's date. I have a wedding to attend.

Skipping sched seems fine by me.

Well, speaking selfishly the proposed skipping sched is good, because I have to work Dec 9. But honestly the holidays are a challenge so whatever works best for most folks.

Just moved to the area from LA for work. I've never been to a meetup but considering I live a few blocks away I guess there's no better time than now.

I will probably be there tomorrow, but I might be late. I'm fine with anything for the holidays.

Welcome, Defenestrator!

I prefer the schedule that involves more trivia, not less, but I'm. kinda a trivia junkie that way.

Man, if everyone shows, we're gonna take up so much space

Maybe we can pull off the hat trick for getting 1st, 2nd, and best team name.

So obviously our third place team needs to be called, "witty, complimentary reference to all of Ryan's favorite professional sports teams and the current events they are involved in"

I call dibs on not needing to write that out 8 times.

We can initialize it as WCR2AORFPSTATCETAII.

Bonus: He'll have to say it at least three times.

I'm going to a 6:45 dinner in Kendall, so I'll probably a bit late.

We could always go with "And winner of best team name" as the team name.

I got here early, so I'm in our usual spot. Barman says we're upstairs despite the game.

I'm awaiting the 66 bus here in Allston. It is being stupid and slow, as usual. But I should be there not too far past 7:30.

Word. Much respect to Horace Rumpole for being a brave organizer for us and asking that one guy "ARE YOU DEFENESTRATOR?" I was impressed.

Also, for those of you not on Twitter, here's the email question prize in use.

Recap. Did you know that Ryan is not a big fan of Harvard? (Then this is clearly your first recap. #hobbyhorse)

Another First/Second finish - Good job guys! Glad you could come koeselitz

Defenestrator: Welcome to Boston - sorry I didn't get a chance to meet you last night. I Hope you can join us next time!

I'm definitely hoping to make the next one and actually meeting you all. Although I'm a little intimidated with that 1st and 2nd finish. I'm still completely amused that I accidentally joined a meetup and that it was a "New to Boston" meetup out of all things.

Say, are we still on for tomorrow?

I think the plan is the 9th and then the new year.
