Dim Sum - Manhattan redux edition

Have we not had an NYC dim sum meetup since February 2012?! This shall not stand. Chinatown's The Golden Unicorn has been conducive to good meetups before, but, would people like to try Pacificana in Brooklyn's Chinatown for a change? I went there once with family and thought the dim sum was more varied than Golden Unicorn's, but the wait time for a table can be long. -- EDIT - Manhattan wins this round, for Saturday 11/9 at 11am.
How were the prices at Pacificana? I remember Golden Unicorn being fairly inexpensive.

I'm not sure about Pacificana prices (the bill got split between two relatives on behalf of the rest of us), but the Yelp reviews seem comparable - 5 people for $55, 3 people for $30, etc. The main drawback of Pacificana seems to be the gamble on the wait time, and the crowded lobby that you have to wait in. Last time at Golden Unicorn there was no wait at all.

Although, I am starting to wonder if we wouldn't have so much of a wait if we got there early, like 10 or 11-- I remember Golden Unicorn was around that time and we were seated right away.
Also, some of the Yelp reviews mention having to make a reservation, and I'm wondering if that's something we have to do.

Saturday works better for me than Sunday, I think. If we're deliberating between the 9th or the 10th, that is.

Yeah, I am routinely late getting to work by 9:30 am with my easy 1-train commute, I vote no earlier than 11am as well. I think that reservations at Pacificana are for formal parties like wedding banquets, or if you know someone at the restaurant, we would just be part of the waiting crowd.

Much as I would like to eat at Pacificana again, the thought of having to get up & out of the apartment on a weekend morning earlier than I do on a weekday morning is just, ugh. My vote is for Golden Unicorn @ 11am 11/9.

Heh. According to Google transit I'd need to leave New Jersey by 8:59am to get to the Pacificana by 11am and leave 9:15am for the Golden Unicorn at 11am. So, er, I guess I'm fine either way.

So You're Saying These Are Pants?- the only instruction that comes to mind is to try to break a $20 sometime beforehand, since the group dim sum check usually works out to something-teen per person, including tip.

Really wanted to be there early, but turns out there's no PATH service to WTC today, so I'm stuck with the slow weekend JSQ via Hoboken train, waiting for it to leave JSQ now, hopefully I will at least be on time. Whoever gets to the lobby first, start the head count.

I'm in the same boat, oh yeah, and I'm giving up. Would have been fucking nice if thread been a way to find that out before getting to Newark and being on the path!! I could have stayed on NJTransit and only been fifteen minues late.

So, I walked all the over to Pacificana only to find out it had been changed since the last time I looked. Learned my lesson, always look at the post just before you leave.
Not much of a line there, btw. Wouldn't have been any wait at all.

Sorry so many people couldn't make it - our bill ended up being a little high for dim sum ($25 per person including tip). Not sure if the prices have gone up or if we were just picking more expensive things, we tried most everything, though sadly we were already full by the time they rolled the cart of Peking duck around.
