Dim Sum: Let's Get Some

Sat February 9 at 11:00 AM, Emperor Palace Chinese Restaurant (was Newport)
6700 West 120th Avenue, Villager Square Shopping Center, Broomfield, CO, USA (Map & Directions)
Chinese New Year is Sunday February 10, and that seems like a fine week to grab some dim sum. SuperStar is good but is also a cool 2+ hours EACH WAY on public transportation from Boulder. Newport in Broomfield is OK, and has the bonus of being in the parking lot of Pacific Ocean Market ... so a meetup outing can multitask as a grocery shopping expedition! Dates and dim sum suggestions solicited ... please be mindful of the carless among us! (I know all the recent Front Range meetups have been in Denver, but Boulder has no dim sum to speak of.) I had just been thinking about dim sum. I'd be interested, but I would likely be coming from Boulder by bus, so I'd favor Broomfield.

I'd also be in, and that date is as good as any for me. Also coming from Boulder here.

I do have access to a car, so if SuperStar were really really compelling/popular, I can theoretically get up to four other Boulderites there. But I prefer to bus rather than drive as much as I can, and I don't I feel very strongly about dim sum, so the Broomfield location gets my vote.

Sounds like a fun idea! Broomfield definitely sucks to get to from my part of Denver by transit, especially on a Sunday (2 hours each way), but I can drive if I have to.

oh grar, we will be up at Snow Mountain Ranch all weekend skate skiing on a cycling team training camp / ski retreat, likely not returning until Monday.

Do we want to do Saturday or Sunday? Weekends has dim sum from 10:00 a.m. onward, and the times I've been there's usually a wait. (The best goodies go early.) I'm open either day.

I can do either; I've never had dim sum before but have always heard getting there early is better.

Leaving Boulder Saturday at 9:38 a.m. gets us there at 10:45. Do we want to confirm this time, set something later, or carpool from Boulder? I have a membership in CarShare.org and could drive if we want to split the (pretty nominal) cost, which allows for apres-dim sum shopping at Pacific Ocean Market.

Early Saturday sounds good - if that's doable for you, asperity, coming from farther away?

cyndigo, I can drive us. No need to pay for a car when I have one I can use for free, I suppose. Message me your info and I can pick you up. (I'm not leaving JiBB out on the rides here; we live together so picking him up is easy!)

I guess we should move this from the Proposed to the Actually Happening section? I don't know how this all works.
