As I feel eideteker has a number of points concerning the December 9th Meetup, and it's not often that folks from out of town get to see other members of the community, I propose a counter-shindig the same hour and day over at Becco, which is 2 blocks away in Time Square. Thus, in the spirit of civility and diplomacy, the two groups can converge afterward and shake hands. Who's with me, comrades?

Havana Central is overpriced and only okay, but their mojitos are pretty good. Enjoy!

I think there's a bunch of Mefites meeting up at Guy Fieri's that same day, maybe you could combine meetups!

There are tons of reasonably priced independent places in Hell's kitchen.

How about Becco? It's not too pricey, accepts credit/debit, can accomodate groups and reservations, and is supposed to be able to accomodate kids should anyone bring them along.

Max reservation seems to be for 20, so if there's any spillover, have folks jump into this thread.

If one is planning on venturing into the Times Square, one should by necessity wear sparkly nailpolish. Preferably blue.
