Sat July 21 at 3:00 PM, Domain of Ace
4414 SE Center St, Portland, OR, USA (Map & Directions)
This time around it'll be on Saturday, July 21st
As usual, we'll do this potluck style.
There's a high probability that Greg will provide smoked meats.
What does everyone else want to bring?

As it happens, I'll be in PDX for OSCON on the 20th. So.. I'm game for the 21st.

The 21st was mentioned as a good day by someone else. dorey_oh, maybe?
Should we go with that?
Presumably at Greg's house since he hasn't said we can't?

Fine with me, unless people would prefer Caldera. But of course they don't have smoked meats....

Not sure I'll be available that weekend but don't let that stop you.

The 21st would work for me. The 22nd is the one day I can't make it, though.
posted by Sibrax at 4:17 PM on June 11, 2012

Ok, so the 21st sounds like it will work. Time?
Shall we stick with 2:00 or 3:00 pm? Or move it to 4:00 or 5:00pm?
posted by nickthetourist at 6:27 PM on June 11, 2012

Yes, the 21st works for me. Any time is good. Will probably bring pie - I'm trying to get the technique down, and you all make good practice subjects!
posted by dorey_oh at 6:57 PM on June 11, 2012

Oh no more pie - WHATEVER SHALL WE DO
posted by Greg_Ace at 5:49 PM on June 12, 2012

It's official.

I just realized we coud make this the [un]official 13th anniversary meetup.

I'm not sure what Brian (Somnolent Jack) and I will bring--maybe homemade baked mac & cheese, or something more elaborate--I'm a bit of an obsessive baker but since dorey_oh has pie covered, I'll have to think of something else!
posted by nonmerci at 9:03 PM on June 27, 2012

Ha! Not intending to box any other bakers out of bringing a dessert by signing up for pie :) It shall be raspberry this time, as July is raspberry season here.

OTOH, if baking a pie means that someone else makes delicious, delicious homemade mac & cheese, I may have to call first dibs on bringing dessert forevermore.

Hmmmmm. I was originally thinking about doing (along with barbecued protein) something with potatoes roasted in duck fat...but I also have a decent mac'n'cheese recipe. I'm willing to choose via popular vote, so let me know which you would prefer.

Will you people still be hanging out laterish?
posted by dersins at 12:44 AM on July 12, 2012

only for you, dersins.
posted by geckoinpdx at 4:09 AM on July 12, 2012

I know I'll certainly be there...

(also, I just re-read the thread and realized that nonmerci/Somnolent Jack may be making mac & cheese, so I'll go back to my original potato idea.)

only for you, dersins.

And someone might even bring Illuminati....

We're going to be living life to the fullest in Cleveland, OH that weekend, so we won't be able to make it. I hope somebody comments in this thread to let me know what I would have been able to ignore if I'd been at this meetup, though!

I'm not sure I have enough letters for an "Ignore Cortex & Secretariat" banner, so I guess I'll have to come up with something else.
posted by Greg_Ace at 9:37 PM on July 15, 2012

Ignore Moderator?
posted by nickthetourist at 7:21 AM on July 16, 2012

But...but..."Ignore Moderator & Secretariat" is even worse!
posted by Greg_Ace at 11:23 AM on July 16, 2012

How about ignore Ohio? That would encompass them both.

That's so damn crazy it just might work.
posted by Greg_Ace at 12:05 PM on July 16, 2012

Aw, I'd love to come, but my mom gets into town that day. Have fun!

I'm bringing key lime pie. Treasure it people because I make once every 5 years.

Hand juicing 10 limes is hard work.
posted by fiercekitten at 9:57 PM on July 16, 2012

wikipedia says we can ignore any or all of the following:

Christian Feast Day:
Arbogast
Daniel (Roman Catholic Church)
Lawrence of Brindisi
Praxedes
Victor of Marseilles
July 21 (Eastern Orthodox liturgics)

Liberation Day in 1944 (Guam)

National Day, celebrates the inauguration of LĂ©opold I, the first king of the Belgians, after its independence from the Netherlands on October 4, 1830. (Belgium)

Racial Harmony Day (Singapore)

Summer Kazanskaya (Russia)

I think we should allow Greg to choose what should be ignored.
(he is in possession of the letters after all)
posted by nickthetourist at 7:28 PM on July 19, 2012

Maybe I'll just ignore this crushing burden...
posted by Greg_Ace at 9:36 PM on July 19, 2012

Regarding the key lime pie: I am prepared to treasure to the fullest. Might one preemptively request a recipe as well, to be brought along to the event or emailed at a time of your choosing?
posted by dorey_oh at 7:25 PM on July 20, 2012

Ignore Crushing Burden does have a nice ring to it.
posted by nickthetourist at 11:14 PM on July 20, 2012

mimo and I will try and make it but might not be by until 6 or so... Let us know if it ends early.
posted by curious nu at 1:49 PM on July 21, 2012

I'll be there 4ish and will probably bring beer since I'm traveling today and won't have time to make something.
posted by Tsuga at 2:43 PM on July 21, 2012

I was able to encompass everyone's ignorance. Or something like that.
