In honor of Spring Break, I will be attending topless.

By God I am really, actually going to try to come this time.

It ain't got that mefite swing if it ain't got that thing! Um, or something like that.

I might be able to make this one. Can we pretend it's my birthday again?
posted by bondcliff at 7:19 AM on March 1, 2012

Well, OK, but if you get all insistent again that we have to give you birthday spankings, I'm going to start to suspect your motives.

If he gets the spankings, I get the spankings. Fair's fair.

You must give us all a good spanking!

I'm just going to assume we all know the followup to backseatpilot's reference without my having to say it out loud.
posted by Horace Rumpole at 1:37 PM on March 1, 2012

Wow. Um, awkward time to drop into this conversation, but I'll be there too.

Fine, since no one else has. ORAL SEX.

Well, since you offered...

I also want to brag that I got a BEST WRONG ANSWER in online trivia this week, so I feel very confident about Monday's performance.
posted by backseatpilot at 7:59 AM on March 2, 2012

As long as bad 90's pop is involved like last time, I'm sure we'll do fine.

so I feel very confident about Monday's performance

I'm... just... going to leave that there.

I was going to offer cookies, but now I just feel dirty.

If it's gonna that kind of party, I am NOT ordering the mashed potatoes.
posted by not_on_display at 8:09 AM on March 3, 2012

well, mashed taters sounds pretty appropriate to me

I can't help but feel partially responsible for the pre-meeting awkwardness that has occurred in this here thread. Usually the awkwardness doesn't happen until I actually show up.
posted by bondcliff at 1:04 PM on March 4, 2012

Pretty sure this was mostly my fault.

Leave it to the newbie, etc.
posted by amy lecteur at 1:35 PM on March 4, 2012

I could be wrong (I'm wrong an astonishing amount) but I don't think there's any genuine awkwardness here, we're just making silly jokes. Anyway, I brought up spankings, so it's clearly my fault.
posted by Horace Rumpole at 2:20 PM on March 4, 2012

Bringing up spankings? That's a paddlin'.
posted by not_on_display at 3:27 PM on March 4, 2012

not_on_display is making me all awkward.

I know there is no awkwardness. I, too, am making silly jokes. Well, at least there wasn't any awkwardness. Now I'm all awkward. Wait... that's just gas. Carry on.
posted by bondcliff at 5:52 PM on March 4, 2012

awkward is a fun word to say. awkward awkward awkward awkward.
posted by not_on_display at 8:05 PM on March 4, 2012

Hooray for it not being awkward! NOW EVERYBODY GIVE ME A BIG HUG!!!
posted by Horace Rumpole at 4:43 AM on March 5, 2012

I am coming for sure. My gf might come next time, as long as "those people from the internet are not too weird."

Now I just have to make sure she never reads this thread.
posted by Aizkolari at 6:20 AM on March 5, 2012

Aww, I have contracted the 24 hour stomach bug going around, so I will have to renege. Really, it has nothing to do with the spankings discussion! I am guessing it's just a reference to the spanking of the Other Teams that always happens when mefites enter the trivia ring.

And there might even be cookies! Mary's cookies are Worlds better than saltines and ginger ale... sigh. Next time! Go spank the competition and win yet more gift certificate trophies so that there might be another next time, Taters!

Hugs all around! (Virtually, so I infect no one. Plus, it's less awkward. Maybe.)
posted by ldthomps at 7:15 AM on March 5, 2012

Sadly, no cookies. Sorry to be a tease. I'll work on making cookies for the next meetup.

I am en route from Central now, hope it's OK if I'm a bit late.

Horace Rumpole: (I'm wrong an astonishing amount)

I am copy/pasting this a million times.

Obligatory Taters Reference snatches a pulse pounding victory from the jaws of defeat! Kudos also to strong-finishing Peewee Taters!

Love you too, DM.

Recap. This was a close one, with just four points separating the top four finishers.
posted by Horace Rumpole at 9:48 AM on March 6, 2012

Dang, I think if we had changed a couple of our true/false answers we would have tied with the Obligatory Taters.

What a time, free beer (from sitting at the OTR table and being in awe as yet another question answered instantly), good conversation, good cheer, and it's sooo much fun sitting at the winners table! How do youse guyse know so much, er, diverse obscurities. Did I mention awe.

And speaking of awkward, go amy. ;-) (er think it was amy, process of elimination, not formally introduced.)
