Hello good people of MetaFilter! In between traveling, inclement weather, work, and other social engagements, I have somehow sadly allowed months to pass without a single food-related journey. But never fear. We ride again! And this time, we ride to Uzbekistan. Ahoy, y'all! I'm participating in a cookie-making contest on December 19th, at 6PM at The Bell House in Brooklyn. It's 15 bucks per ticket, and each attendee can sample cookies from 30 different amateur bakers. I cannot guarantee that my cookies will win, but I can guarantee that they will be delicious. Buy tickets here. Bulleit Bourbon will also be serving free bourbon-spiked egg nog from 6 to 7!

I'll be in a cookoff on Saturday at the Chile Pepper Fiesta, held in the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Tickets (for the entire day, not just for my cookoff thing) are fifteen bucks (or ten if you're a student or senior). I'm making savory little beefy things, and they will be delicious! Also beer will be there, and I will be drinking that beer, you betcha. And music! And demonstrations! And a tattoo parlor! (PDF of all events, click and BE AMAZED)
