It's been too long, Michigan! How about an early October Meetup in the Ann Arbor / Ypsi area on Sunday, 10/9? It just so happens that a certain Genuine Metafilter Moderator, who is known to appear at libraries, will be appearing at the Ann Arbor Library Sunday afternoon, and a Meetup afterwards would be a good time for all involved.
First come see Jessamyn in Behind the Scenes of Web Communities at 4:30 PM at AADL's Downtown Library, then join us starting at 6 PM at Arbor Brewing Company's Tap Room for drinking and eating and talking and stuff. Hope to see you there!
Am thrilled that there's some action in our neck of the woods! And I'm free that evening. Love the Raven's Club (great wine list but expensive food), am afraid the Heidelberg will be swarming with students, never been to ABC tap room. There's also the Jolly Pumpkin for good brews and slightly cheaper food.
Any details on said moderator's appearance?

It's a workable date for me -- at least it is now. Whether this will hold true in four weeks, I don't know. I have no venue ideas (hey, my youngest kid just hit HS and I live 20 miles out of A2; it's not like I know anything about eating establishments downtown), though.

I may be up for this...
ABC would be a good choice if the side room is available. Aubree's just opened a new place in Dexter (8 miles or so from Ann Arbor), parking would be simple there.

That's awesome; I'll definitely show up! It's funny; I only found this thread because I was Googling for the name of the bar we had a meetup a few years ago at in Ypsi. Good timing, I guess!

I'll make an offer.... If you folks want to make the drive out to Portage lake (16 miles, 29 minutes from downtown ann arbor according to google maps), I'm willing to book a room at the Portage Lake Yacht Club for this event, the limitation is that they close (and will throw us out) at 9 pm, but if folks want to do a BYO at my house afterwards, I'm only 2 minutes from the club.
I'm open to ABC as well...

I think I'd err for something downtown to maximize folks who can get there, but I appreciate your offer. I am a leaf in the river on this one so other folks will have to make some decision on something.

Let's stick to downtown - easier and more central for more of us. Arbor Brewing (ABC) is decent and there's parking without too much hassle for downtown Ann Arbor. What time? Ulotrichous when does your library event end? I like the Jolly Pumpkin but it's crazy loud even compared to ABC and that's saying a lot.

OK, the Tap Room at Arbor Brewing company is reserved for our use starting at 6 PM Sunday October 9. The event ends right at 6 and the library will close abruptly then too, so those that attend can head over there and other can join then or later! Hope to see everybody there. EVERYBODY.
