Families Belong Together Rally

Donald Trump and his administration are cruelly separating children from their families. But we won't allow it to continue. On June 30, we're rallying in Washington, D.C., and around the country to tell Donald Trump and his administration to stop separating kids from their parents!

Join us on June 30 to send a clear message to Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress: Families Belong Together!

The host has marked that this event is wheelchair accessible.

Join National Domestic Workers Alliance, Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, ACLU, MoveOn, and many others in rallies in Washington, D.C. and around the country to ensure the Trump administration and the GOP know that #FamiliesBelongTogether and the American people are calling to #EndFamilySeparation.

We will definitely be going to this, and I'm interested in hearing about anything else people are planning to do. The best thing I've seen so far is the DSA confronting Neilsen while she was having dinner. These people do not deserve a moment's peace. It's clear that their consciences aren't making this unpleasant for them, so it's up to us to make their lives unpleasant.

I would be up for sign making! I think signs help visibility and morale a lot but I've never brought any.

Can't help with signs but I'm planning to be at the rally.

I'm not a regular Metro-user, and I'm planning to take West Falls Church to Farragut West, which should normally take thirty minutes. How much extra time should I allow for the crowds?

I am sorry Johnny - I am quite new to the city so I can't speak from experience. Anyone else?

I'll be at the rally, but with my church. I might see you there!

Re: metro from W Falls Church, I would add about 1.5 hours to be "on time." It depends if the metro gets slammed with people from the end of the line, which it might. I have not heard that they are running extra trains for this, but it's possible?

It might be a wee bit crowded by the statue. Lafayette Square is not a big space.

This will be me. I will try to find y'all but if anyone else has a sign that they know they'll be carrying or other easy visual sign that can be spotted from a distance, that would be helpful to us olds with our small bad eyes that haven't made it to many DC meetups.

Well, I'll be the 250 lb 6'2" white guy with longish hair and a red "Abolish ICE" shirt courtesy of the DSA.

Of course, I probably won't be the only one.

I will be the 5 ft tall lady with NO MAS written in red duct tape on a herringbone umbrella carrying this sign.

I look like my profile pic. No sign. And thanks, zennie.

So, looks like there's gonna be a bunch of people there today.

I am gonna do my best to find folks but with this kind of crowd (yay!) if I don't see you, be safe! Resist!

Not too crowded yet; I'm at the statue.

I probably will not make our 10:30 meetup at the statue, but am on my way and hope to catch up with you during the march. Will be on the lookout for your signs! On the off-chance you see me first, I'm a white brunette woman in a yellow T-shirt and gray jeans and carrying a pink purse (but no sign, unfortunately).

Sorry not to have been able to meet up with you all, but happy to have gone and to have stood in solidarity. ✊

It was a nice turnout—not fifty-thousand, but sizable. Poor Space Kitty is a recent LA transplant, but she held up pretty well under the oppressive heat and humidity. She, drlith and I hung out with duffell and CatastropheWaitress during the speechifying and then marched with their church group down Pennsylvania Avenue, pausing in front of Trump's hotel to sing "We Choose Love." I'll post some pics later.

I posted some photos and videos. Sorry about my fumblefingered cutoff of the last few seconds of the song at Trump Hotel.
