Did anything come of the Mead party at Blasdelb's? Are folks still game for getting together?
So, for some reason, the meetup thread from Dec just popped into my RSS feed for the first time today, so I missed it when it was live. Did you guys every get together? Anyone up for another meetup, whether to brew some Mead or maybe just grab a beer somewhere?

Update:
I think we're going to shoot for Sat Feb 12 at 5pm until 10 or 11 or whenever we're done. Blasdelb would like a good estimate of how many people are coming, so please RSVP if you're coming. I suppose if there's not critical mass, we might try for another time- Thanks!

I'm sorry I haven't gotten back to you guys, I've started the six gallons of mead and so far it is fermenting slower than predicted, I've been waiting until I could more accurately recalculate a bottle date to make a new thread. Though, now that I think about it we should be able to bottle a sweet and clear mead by the weekend of February 12th and 13th if I give it a final racking now. How would this weekend work for y'all?

Things that will help,

*All the wine bottles we can collect, I can supply fresh corks.
*A volunteer to design lulzy MeFite labels, I can print and apply them.
*Someone who can figure out how to mail completed bottles to Matthowie, Jessamyn, cortex, and pb.

Perhaps we could do it in the evening, I can cook and provide beer as well as more exotic fermentative experiments. (A mango date wine and caffeinated mango chai hooch should be ready by about then) Also, if anyone knows where one can find a bunch of cabbage, I've recently acquired jars that would be perfect for sauerkraut or kimchee and I've been itching to use them. Making it is really easy, a fun group activity, and we could divvy up the results at the next meet-up afterward.

That's not a great weekend for me, but I'd love to come!

I can help with bottling that weekend.

As for the shipping, last time I had to get wine to friends, I bought some of these. Maybe the single bottle packs, which can then be shipped out by UPS?

That weekend won't work for me, unfortunately, but it sounds awesome!

Rats, I just saw this. If you still need any aid, I'd love to help with bottling or anything else. I'm free that weekend and most others :)

I'll ask around about wine label creation + try to collect some wine bottles!

I could use a Cleveland meetup. This would be interesting but 2 and a half hours of driving might not be great each way. I hope its enjoyable!

graxe, welcome to metafilter! If it helps you'd be welcome to crash at my place

Blasdelb, that would certainly be helpful. If there are any folks out by Cleveland who would want to come, then I could give them a ride. If that were to happen I would surely come. Now, I should really head to bed.

Sorry guys, but I may have to bail to take care of some family medical issues that day. I really enjoyed meeting you guys at the last meetup, and I was looking forward to hanging out again :(

Hey everyone, the meadup turned out awesome with Solon and Thanks, Leucistic Cuttlefish (a new member), and I. The mead ended up being not quite ready to bottle so we hung out with good food, made 6 gallons of beer, and talked about MetaFilter, Dan Brown and how to make meth instead.

Glad to hear it went well - sorry I wasn't able to make it. :(

On the plus side, when the mead is ready to bottle, we'll have to do another one, right? :)

It should be ready to bottle one to two months from now, so we could either do it next month or the month after with an unrelated meetup in between.
