January Movie Club

Sat January 16 at 6:30 PM, Rosedale AMC (meet at Granite City next door)
850 Rosedale Shopping Center, Roseville, MN, USA (Map & Directions)
Let's plan our January movie club outing.
January will be here before we know it. I think we've been doing the second Saturday for movie night, but as the trivia meetup is that night, I propose we do Saturday the 16th. Twist: I also propose we have dinner before the movie.

I'm not sure now what the hot movies will be in mid-January, but to throw out a few suggestions:

1. The Revenant (Leo DiCaprio-in-the-woods drama, bonus Tom Hardy)
2. The 5th Wave (alien disaster movie)
3. The Big Short (true story about people who predicted the housing bubble and collapse)

I'm open to other suggestions. I'll see pretty much any movie. We normally go to the Roseville AMC as it's pretty central to the two cities. There are a ton of restaurants right there as well. We could do dinner around 5-5:30 and the 7-ish showing of whatever movie we decide.

That date and any of those titles work for me!

There is a chance I will be out of town that day, but if I'm here, I would be totally up for a movie that day! Both The Revenant and The Big Short look good...

Yay! I'd be in for The Big Short or The Revenant.

Okay! Let's tentatively say The Revenant, though if any jaw-dropping movies come out or we want to switch for whatever other reason, we can.

I will post the time when we get closer to the date. Would people be interested in maybe meeting around 5:30 at one of the next-door restaurants for dinner? (I can't remember the names of them right now - there are like three places right there)

Sounds great to me! I'd be up for dinner too.

Okay, I looked at the restaurants and Granite City is pretty much right next door (and has a reasonably varied menu, IIRC) so I will propose we go there unless anyone else has any better ideas.

Looks like I won't be working, so dinner and a movie sound great.

Yay! I'll update the movie time when it's available, but dinner will probably be around 5:30. Glad you can make it! :)

I work until 5, but I (and my partner) are aiming to make it!

Excellent! The more the merrier! The times aren't posted yet, but it looks like The Revenant (winner of Best Dramatic Film and Best Actor for Leo D-C at the Golden Globes!) is currently showing at 7 so I'll set dinner at 5:15 so we can leave a little time to run over and get tickets (just show up whenever you can if you can't make it by 5:15). We'll meet at Granite City, which is right next door to the theater. If it looks like we're going to have more than five or so people, I'll call and get a reservation so they can push some tables together for us.

Looking forward to seeing everyone and super excited to see this movie!

Because my seemingly ever changing life is a hassle, it looks like I'll only be able to make it to dinner.

I will be there for both dinner and the movie. See you all on Saturday!

Hey everyone. The movie doesn't actually start until 8:30(!) - the earlier one is at five. Would everyone be okay with moving dinner back to say, 6:30?

Sorry for all the memail notifications, I just want to make sure that everyone sees that it's at a later time, so I've updated it. I'm putting 6:30 dinner and 8:30 movie but my night is open so I am flexible if something else might work better for the group.

Booo to being sick on a holiday weekend. I hope you can make it but if you can't, I hope you feel better soon!

Hope you feel better, heurtebise!

Turns out I only have time for dinner OR a movie, so I've decided on the former. Looking forward to seeing you all!

I'll join you all for dinner, as well. (All the way from Wisconsin...)

I'm still feeling like crap, so I should sit this one out. I am bummed, since I was really looking forward to it.

I have to puppy sit now, so I'll be coming to dinner but not the movie!
