Mefi Sasquan II: Meetup Never Sleeps

So, I'm not attending the con, but I do live in the Spokane area, and would love to meet MeFites!

The District Bar is pretty nice. If anyone has any questions about anything associated with Downtown Spokane or wants a list of possible alternate locations for the meetup, we should chat about those things.

This should be fun!

So, I just got laid off and don't know if I'll be making this anymore - even if I get a new job in time they might not give me time off. But I'm with you in spirit.

A lot of stuff is usually scheduled at 7 pm on a Friday at Worldcon. For instance doors open for the masquerade that Friday at 7. Would you consider perhaps a Wednesday or Thursday date or maybe a Saturday lunch time?

I'm a maybe, whenever it may be. I'll be behind a table in the dealer's room for most of the day, walking a mile or so sounds like good exercise after so much sitting still.

I'll be there, but I'm committed to doing author stuff with Amazon/47North on Saturday during the day and a dinner on Friday night. I'll try to keep track of this thread to see what my opportunities are. :)

I wish I could make it, but it seems unlikely -- the 2017 Worldcon site selection ends at 6pm on the Friday, and I'll be counting votes to see if we can finally bring the Worldcon to Helsinki in 2017.

I whipped together a quick Doodle poll--it has the con dates (Wed-Sun) and three slots for each, at around noon, 6 PM, and 9 PM (all tentative, but meant to correspond to lunch/early evening/night time windows). Hopefully there is a time (or maybe more than one! We can do all the meetups!) that works for a handful of folks.

I'm looking forward to this meetup, whenever it happens. Can't do Wed or Thurs, but anytime across the weekend from Friday morning on works for me.

OK it hasn't started yet and it's kind of fun :) Just chatted a bit with with Vonda Mcintyre and Charles Stross at a Sasquan get together in the public library a few hours ago. There are incredible fires in the NW and the city should be called Smokane this week. Having a few mild asthma-coughy fits today which I'm not normally prone to. New 50 acre fire just started up this afternoon maybe 10 miles (?) from downtown - you can see planes dropping anti-fire-stuff (official product name) on it.

does Saturday at lunch work better than Friday night for folks? I assume that there's going to be a lot of stuff going on Saturday evening what with the Hugos.

Saturday at lunch works for me (and by the time lunch rolls around, I may desperately want a reason — any reason — to flee the WSFS business meeting).

I'm not going to be able to make it tonight, but it sounds like there are still people interested in meeting at the District Bar (sometime around 7/8?) Does anyone have time/location preferences for a second Saturday lunchtime meetup? (If not, I'll tentatively suggest 12:30 at the Satellite?)

If MeFites will be at the District Bar tonight I will be there. But I live about 30 minutes away and won't be making the drive just to sit and hope.

If it does happen, I'll be easy to spot -- long beard, black leather cap.
