Housewarming/beer & soda tasting party at Horace Rumpole & DiscourseMarker's
posted September 28, 2014 1:31 PM   RSS | iCal | +googleCal

Sat October 18 at 3:00 PM, DM & HR's place
330 Boston Avenue, Medford, MA, USA (Map & Directions)
Help us warm our new house and celebrate DM's birthday with a beverage tasting of tasty beverages. Bring your favorite beers and/or exotic sodas (Moxie!) and we'll have a few of our own. Bonus activities include board games and noshing. Note: location approximate. We'll memail those who RSVP with the exact address.
Our house is very accessible via public transportation. We're a little over a mile from Davis Square, and a few blocks from the 80, 94, & 96 bus routes. A little further is also the 101. There is ample street parking in our neighborhood.

Kids are welcome, but please be advised that the house is not explicitly baby-proofed.

Can I come?

Please do! All MeFites welcome, so long as you promise not to trash the place.

Congratulations! I am in Colorado, doting on my grandson. Wish I could be there.

I can't stay long, but I'm definitely going to come by!

I am now reading this thread in the new dark theme. This color is awful.

This comment has nothing to do with the party. Carry on.

Shoot - we're out of town that weekend, otherwise we'd love to come. Happy new house!!

I am also unfortunately out of town that weekend. Next time!

I am going on a hiking trip that weekend but if the weather turns really crappy I will probably not go hiking because I am old and have no time for that kind of thing anymore. If that happens I will be more than happy to swing by the new pad.

Sadly, that's the exact time of my four-year-old's birthday party, but congrats!

Medford's near us!! We're a definite maybe!

Full house rehab achieved! High five, new old house! We'll try to stop by depending on the conditions on that day!
posted by ignignokt at 12:15 PM on September 29, 2014 [1 favorite]

That's full house-rehab, not Full House rehab, to be clear.
posted by ignignokt at 12:15 PM on September 29, 2014 [3 favorites]

There is no rehabilitating Full House.

Yay, a weekend meetup! And conveniently, I just lugged home a suitcase overloaded with midwestern craft beers. Looking forward to meeting y'all and not trying to rehabilitate the Tanners.

I would totally love to come to this, but I'll be out of town that weekend.

I think I'll make The Relish. WHO NEXT SHALL BEAR THE BURDEN OF THIS TERRIBLE, DELICIOUS CURSE

Oh, and in case anybody is still on the fence: There Will Be Cake.

So I had my dates all mixed up and I think that Andi and I can be there after all.

WHO NEXT SHALL BEAR THE BURDEN OF THIS TERRIBLE, DELICIOUS CURSE

I would be absolutely thrilled if this turns in to some sort of delicious chain letter.

Party info has been sent via MeFiMail. If for some reason you didn't get it, please drop me a note and I'll re-send. Also, I ordered a big cake, if that entices you to come.

CAKE!

Pssst, re: party directions, if you are coming from Arlington or Lechmere, the 80 bus will also get you close.
posted by maryr at 9:21 PM on October 16, 2014

Thanks maryr I forgot about the 80 - it stops in the same place as the 94 for reference.
posted by DiscourseMarker at 8:49 AM on October 17, 2014

Alas, something has come up, so it looks like we won't make it after all. Have fun!!

Kinda last minute, but if anyone wants any of these games for free, let me know, and I'll bring it and give it to you! For free!

- Runebound (second edition)
- Forbidden Island

Forbidden Island's now spoken for!

If anyone's still watching this thread and not eating cake and drinking beer, we are running a little late because of babies and stuff, but we'll be there soon.
posted by Metroid Baby at 12:34 PM on October 18, 2014

That was delightful, thank you so much!

I only regret that I stopped at one piece of cake.

Yes, that was a great time in a very grown-up house. With a secret time warp basement!

Thank you very much! Nice to see everyone and eat delicious Medford things in your beautiful Medford house! Congrats and happy birthday.

Thanks so much for hosting, guys. And I hope the demon rocking horse that lives in your attic doesn't kill you in your sleep anytime soon!

Thanks for hosting this awesome party in your amazing house!! I am excited to report that DAISYACE has sacrificed herself to bear the weighty burden of preparing THE RELISH (which is, legally speaking, actually a CHUTNEY) for the next applicable meetup. May her stovetop range blister peppers with the temperature of a thousand suns. http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2012/02/hot-chili-chutney-recipe.html

You have a lovely house, congrats! Thanks for the hosting and the excellent cake. Clearly I need to use you guys as a resource for good local food purveyors.
