Mon September 13 at 7:00 PM, PS Lounge
3416 E Colfax Ave, Denver, CO, USA (Map & Directions)
As luck would have it, I'll be visiting Denver and Colorado Springs September 12-18, with just enough time to meet the digerati.

Sounds good, I was thinking of calling one soon anyway. Denver is probably better for me, what about others?
posted by scrutiny at 3:02 PM on August 25, 2010

Denver is better for me too, depends on the date as to weather I can make it though.
posted by Confess, Fletch at 8:27 PM on August 25, 2010

Indeed, we're about due. I can't make it Tuesday or Thursday, however. The Great American Beer Festival gets underway Thursday, which means that we probably wouldn't want to go to the Falling Rock Taphouse... or anywhere else downtown that has good beer. So that might motivate an earlier meetup, or maybe someplace outside of downtown.
posted by McBearclaw at 9:52 PM on August 26, 2010

Denver for me too. Friday preferred but any night should be ok.

We could go to the PS Lounge again if we want to get out of LoDo. Or bars on Broadway?

Great American Beer Festival tickets sold out long ago btw in case anyone was thinking... I missed out this year and consequently am in great emotional pain.

Oh, Oh everyone could come to Golden!

...

Nevermind.

Thus far, Wednesday and Friday sound better. Wednesday, because we could still make it downtown, and Friday because it's a weekend and it's easy for people to drink lots.

Between those two, my preference is for Wednesday, as I'm actually heading to GABF (sorry!) Saturday morning (11-ish) so wouldn't want to go out too much Friday night. That being said, I'll go anywhere and Fridays are typically easier for people to make.

After looking through -t's photos from the PS Lounge meetup, I'm all for it. Wednesday or Friday both work for me because that particular week is a constellation of events that assures me a perpetual hangover.

Would it be worth lighting the bat signal? I feel like we're maybe not getting the usual eyes on page, perhaps because IRL is still new.
posted by McBearclaw at 7:13 PM on August 30, 2010

Bat signal lit. (Not sure if any of you are on it... what with parsing nicks and IRL names but there was quite a few names on there.)

Count me in, on any night other than Thursday.
posted by epimorph at 11:30 PM on August 30, 2010

I'm in for Monday or Tuesday.
posted by craven_morhead at 5:27 AM on August 31, 2010

Wednesday seems to be a crowd favorite, but I could also hang around the PS Lounge on Monday; any place that has Social Distortion and Johnny Cash on the jukebox is tops with me.
posted by Smart Dalek at 6:30 AM on August 31, 2010

I'm (tentatively) in for whichever day; haven't been to a meetup in a while.
posted by Scientifik at 8:55 AM on August 31, 2010

Wednesday's don't work for me, they're already spoken for.
posted by Confess, Fletch at 8:48 PM on August 31, 2010

If scrutiny and McBearclaw are okay with Monday, we could set a time; either way, both nights are still good for me.
posted by Smart Dalek at 1:35 PM on September 1, 2010

I sent bat signal up as well. I'm not sure of my schedule but hope to make it.
posted by fieldtrip at 8:25 PM on September 1, 2010

Monday works for me - may as well cast sobriety aside as early as possible.
posted by McBearclaw at 8:59 PM on September 1, 2010

I may be able to make Monday, since I don't work (well, at least not work where I have to be somewhere at a given time) on Tuesdays. Wednesday nights, though, have been tricky lately.
posted by heurtebise at 9:46 PM on September 1, 2010

Yeah, I could do Monday. I certainly don't have anything else planned then.

Did we want to rock PS Lounge again then?
posted by scrutiny at 5:50 AM on September 2, 2010

I can do Monday too. (It also gives me a nice break to recover in time for Thursday night drinkies.)

PS Lounge works for me. But then so does LoDo since we're earlier in the week and no longer clashing with the Beer Festivus. I would suggest wherever is easier for Smart Dalek, as he is an outta towner and PS Lounge is a little way out. Where are you staying Smart Dalek?
posted by NailsTheCat at 9:22 AM on September 2, 2010

I just sent you some MeMail, Nails.

My first meetup!
posted by freshwater at 6:33 PM on September 2, 2010

Welcome freshwater!

Y'all: It looks like Monday night has won out. (Agree?) So what venue? Monday is sufficiently prior to the Beer Festival to open up downtown as a contender. My vote would be for LoDo or downtown: (a) because it's likely to be easier for Smart Dalek if staying in the centre; (b) because those Mefites from further afield, particularly those relying on public transport, tend to find it easier. The Falling Rock is always a favourite...

So, can we vote to decide on locale, comrades?
posted by NailsTheCat at 8:59 PM on September 2, 2010

I hope attend, assuming this does not preclude a later meetup in Ft. Collins.

You know who I'm talkin' about.
posted by lukemeister at 12:02 PM on September 3, 2010

I hope *to* attend, that is. Sorry, I'm from Texas, so I don't speak the language.
posted by lukemeister at 12:05 PM on September 3, 2010

Hope to see you lukemeister!

Still no sight of koezelitz (splg?), lonefrontranger, -t, peachfuzz (and others whose metafilter names I cannot remember--and I'll refrain from using real names).

I strongly prefer falling rock...
posted by scrutiny at 7:52 AM on September 7, 2010

I doubt I'll make it, I may have to make an emergency trip to our facility in Chihuahua....more broken machines.
posted by Confess, Fletch at 9:16 PM on September 8, 2010

Hi! This too will be my first. Monday would work fine. I rather like PS Lounge.
posted by Wordwoman at 6:54 AM on September 10, 2010

Well hello there Denver folks. Well I suppose I can attend this, so why not right? So make that one more for the first timers club.

Oh, and Monday is fine, and I don’t have a venue preference.
posted by Widepath at 2:00 PM on September 10, 2010

I love Falling Rock, but since I've never been to PS Lounge, that might be my first choice for this meetup.
posted by heurtebise at 4:27 PM on September 10, 2010

If anyone else prefers PS Lounge over another venue, speak now for the final tally. I can make reach the Lounge again by Wednesday as well, so Falling Rock could still count as an option for Monday. Cast your votes, early and often!
posted by Smart Dalek at 5:20 AM on September 12, 2010

I'll cast my vote for Falling Rock for Monday since the only strong opinion one way or the other seems to be scrutiny's.
posted by McBearclaw at 2:02 PM on September 12, 2010

I suppose I should clarify that the reason I prefer falling rock is because they have excellent sour beer (New Beligium's La Folie) on draft. Last time I was there, they were pulling at $5 a pour because New Belgium had given them a massive amount of kegs of the stuff. Odds are that special is gone, but sour beer on draft is pretty rare.

I'm not opposed to PS Lounge either, but someone who is not me should make the final call. I'll show up (tomorrow?!?!) regardless :)
posted by scrutiny at 3:22 PM on September 12, 2010

PS Lounge it is, then. :-)
posted by Wordwoman at 3:48 PM on September 12, 2010

So, then - best time? Say, 6 or 8ish?
posted by Smart Dalek at 4:45 PM on September 12, 2010

Does anyone know about the availability of bike parking adjacent to the PS Lounge? I was hoping to go by there today to check it out, but, alas, did not....
posted by heurtebise at 6:37 PM on September 12, 2010

Fieldtrip cycled one time so there must be space somewhere. Its surroundings are fairly residential (other than Colfax) itself so you should be able to find a sign or something you can lock to. I may well cycle myself.
posted by NailsTheCat at 8:48 PM on September 12, 2010

Time anyone? (And damn it all... I was looking fwd to Falling Rock--although PS Lounge is probably easier to get to...)
posted by NailsTheCat at 8:50 PM on September 12, 2010

7! I should be able to get there a bit earlier than that. I guess if y'all want to come at 8, you'll just have to deal with me being drunk after sitting by myself for an hour and a half.
posted by McBearclaw at 11:54 PM on September 12, 2010

Solo Drunken Bearclaw Style? Impossible!
7pm it is.

Oh. If you've never been to PS Lounge before, IIRC it's cash only.

I'm jumping a bus as soon as I get off work at six, so should be there by then, if RTD deigns to be on time.
posted by McBearclaw at 3:17 PM on September 13, 2010

I'll be there well before 7 too--gonna cycle there straight from work.

(Can't have too late a night since it's a Monday so may as well start earlier.)
posted by NailsTheCat at 3:23 PM on September 13, 2010

I feel bad because I advocated for this venue, but now I'm stuck on a work project and must keep going. Have fun, everybody, and I'll see you next time.

Solo drinking bearclaw style on display now!

Brown shirt, red beard, in case you're looking.
posted by McBearclaw at 5:42 PM on September 13, 2010

I'll be there a bit around 7:30 to 8, due to some delays at work.
posted by heurtebise at 5:58 PM on September 13, 2010

Alas, we can't make it tonight, had a election ballot education session to attend after a weekend of lots of driving. For the mythical Ft. Collins meetup, would people want to do a brewery tour? It would probably have to start in the afternoon to get a tour in before dinner somewhere else.
posted by dr. fresh at 6:05 PM on September 13, 2010

I'm not going to make it, either. Hope y'all are having fun.

dr. fresh: Yes, please!

dr. fresh: yes--that would work for me. I can't wait.

(And after Odell's / New Belgium, a Great Divide tour here in Denver wouldn't hurt.) Although on a different day would probably be best.
