Sat July 10 at 6:00 PM, Brooklyn Cyclones Stadium
1904 Surf Ave, Brooklyn, NY, USA (Map & Directions)
Hey New York City, we're going to see a Brooklyn Cyclones game in Coney Island on Saturday, July 10th, at 6 p.m.
Group tickets have already been purchased, but I imagine you could purchase individual tickets and come join us in our seats (Field Box Seats in Section 17, rows H, I, and J). Post-game fireworks are scheduled for after the game.

I have been informed that our group name, Metafilter.com, will appear on the scoreboard sometime during the 4th inning :D

They are playing the State College Spikes. Spikes??
The name "Spikes" has a threefold meaning. The club's official logo depicts a young white-tailed deer, for whom a "spike" is an undeveloped antler, symbolic of a young team member who may develop into a Major League Baseball player. The name also refers to a railroad spike, similar to the way the name "Altoona Curve" commemorates the famous Horseshoe Curve on the Pennsylvania Railroad. Finally, baseball players have long worn shoes with spikes.
Also, that game has this:

I am RSVPing so my netstalkers know where to find me ahead of time. No more relying on foursquare for last-minute updates!

Just confirmed my seat in Row I.

It looks like some folks I reserved tickets for can't make it, so if you're still interested in coming, MeMail me, I might be able to sell you a ticket from our group.

How will we get our tickets from you, TPS?

I'm going to set up a point at which I'll be outside the stadium in a designated location- probably from 5 to 5:30. Do we want to meet in Coney Island before the game? I was thinking I'd go down for the afternoon, have some Nathan's, stroll the beach. Maybe those of us who want to meet early should meet at Nathan's at, I dunno, 3 p.m.?

I think my friends and I are planning to go to the side show before the game, if you (and anyone else) is interested in joining us for that. If so, maybe we could go after meeting up at Nathan's... If not, we could probably go before that.

I am certainly not going all the way to Coney Island just for a baseball game, no matter how good the company is.

I'm planning on spending the better part of the day with my lady/ladies hanging around on Coney Island (do they still have rides and amusements?), so I'm down for meeting people (o hai amro!) any time. I don't think the side show is gonna be our thing, but I'm cool if people want to hang out for part of the day!

YES.

Although now I'm thinking maybe we should meet at Nathan's earlier? I don't know if I can wait until 3? I don't know. Let me have my holiday weekend, and then I'll decide.

I missed the game tickets and still not entirely certain I can stay for it that evening (friend may or may not have something planned), but if there are some MeFi pre-game festivities, I can probably make that. So definitely keep us posted, TPS.

Ok, here's the plan for the July 10th Coney Island Day:

2:00 p.m. at Nathan's for some delicious treats.
Ticket pickup for the Cyclones game between 5:00 and 5:30 p.m. outside the boardwalk entrance to the park. Game starts at 6. If you come late and make me leave the game to give you your tickets, I will be crabby.

I still have a few tickets available, if anyone wants in. We're sitting in section 17, rows H, I, and J, if anyone wants to buy tickets separately and join us.

This heat wave better break before next Saturday.

I'll be showing up as late as possibly (5:29::59) so that the mid-day heat has a chance to wane a tad.

Oh, pshh, it's supposed to be a balmy 88 degrees next Saturday! Practically sweater weather!

Looks like a serious threat of thunderstorms. :(

This week railroaded me. No Nathan's for edbles. Just errands forever. See you at 5:00.

It's supposed to be storming right at this moment and yet no rain so far so I'm hoping tomorrow will be cooler and sunny. See you all at Nathan's.

I will keep all thunderstorms back with the power of my mighty arm!

Hmm... It only lets me indicate 2 guests. But I'm bringing more than that!

FYI, for Nathan's at 2, we're meeting at the main location, not the one on the boardwalk.

I am not going to make it in time for Nathan's, so I'll meet you around 5 pm (unless the weather is crap and then I might be a loser and bail).

if anyone's running late like we are, Becca and I will be @ Nathan's in about 15.

Never been to such a successful Cyclones win before. 4 homeruns! Glad I didn't leave after the first half-inning.

And what did I tell you about Relish? Always bet on Relish.

Thanks again Kate for organizing and to the rest of y'all that I met.
