Crafty day in Pittsburgh

Sun December 11 at 2:00 PM, Turkey House
356 Fingal St, Pittsburgh, PA, USA (Map & Directions)
Anyone interested in working on holiday projects for an afternoon in the company of other Pittsburgh MeFites? I have access to a house with several sewing machines, or we can meet at a library or coffee shop.
The idea of having a Metafilter craft day came up at the last gathering and got some interest. Anyone up for some talking, snacks and handmade good times?

Neat idea! I just wanted to mention, though, that I didn't get a MeMail alerting me to this. I seem to have IRL notifications box checked, so maybe it's just me, but you may want to check.

I realize it's only been, like, 20 minutes since you posted this.

Thanks for the note! I'll bug the mods.

If there can be some papercrafting involved here, I'm completely in!

I am very interested. I'm sure I've got at least a few portable projects that I can bring. And of course snacks - I'll bring those too.

FWIW, I got the email, but it seems it didn't fire until just after midnight Pacific time. Suspect it's a once (or other low n)-a-day process...

Not so terribly into crafting, but having missed the last event might turn up just for the hell of it.

This would be wonderful! NB: I will be out of town the weekend of the 16th.

I'm still interested. I have some ornaments that need to work.

I'll be there, sitting in the corner eating glue and playing with glitter and construction paper.

Okay, how about Sunday, the 11th of December at 2:00pm? Alternatively, we can try the 17th or 18th, though amicamentis will be out of town (sorry!).

If there are just a few of us we can fit into the dining room at my parents' place. Otherwise, I think we can claim a corner of the Library at Oakland, or the Library at Squirrel Hill. Or something. I'm not being very creative.

We can do the 11th, but will have to scoot out early-ish. (We're going to try the Kennywood Christmas Lighting Spectacular, and that is in theory the least crowded of the weekends.)

Of the alternate weekend, the 17th would be better.

How necessary is the presence of sewing machines for everyone? I'd think that would open up some flexibility for us if we didn't need those. (I too am lacking in the creative venue thoughts.)

How many people are we talking about? Panera's never had a problem with my knitting group being there for hours at a time, but that's usually a weekend night and we're rarely more than eight or ten. There's more room at the McKnight Panera for groups than the Oakland-by-Magee Panera. The libraries would be prettier.

I don't need a sewing machine.

Alison and anyone else with kids, if I make it, I'm totally quizzing you about birthing and etc in Pittsburgh. I have three weeks left to figure it out. If I don't make it this Sunday, it's because I have three weeks left.

All right, I'm making this official. We'll be meeting at my parents' house on Mount Washington. It's quiet and we can use it for an unlimited amount of time. If there get to be more that seven of us we can meet at the McKnight road Panera.

That's incredibly convenient for us - I had no idea you had family mere blocks from us Alison.

My +1 is optional if it gets too crowded. He'd be coming for the company more than the crafting anyway. I just can't mark him a maybe.

Wonderful!! I can be there for about an hour so that will free up a sewing machine. Really looking forward to seeing everyone.

Grrr, I've been hijacked by family for a "Breakfast with Santa Claus" event on Sunday. I'm going to try to duck out after the eggs.

Capacity has been upped to ten. Thanks mom and dad!

Amy (genekellysrollerskates) and I would totally join up but we'll be on our way back from Cincinnati - SEW keep us in mind for the next meetup (get it?!)*.

*sorry - bad joke.

I will be there, +1 for hanging out with parents!

Hey, Alison - could you please make a final post tomorrow morning about where it'll be so I don't scare your parents if we're up to Panera?

We're still on for Mt. Washington. There will be many, many cookies.

I'm going to throw out a third many on that many many cookies - I'm bringing a tray I picked up at Oakmont Bakery. ;-)
