Fri June 3 at 6:00 PM, Penn Brewing Co.
800 Vinial St, Pittsburgh, PA, USA (Map & Directions)
I'll be in PGH from 5-24 to 6-8 and would like to get together. Right now it look like 6-6 to 6-8 aren't good, but I'm free other days.
your first weekend in town is Memorial Day weekend - which I suspect would be sub-optimal for a meetup. The following weekend would probably work....

You're coming in to town just as I'm leaving, alas, for a long weekend Memorial Day trip. And for the second weekend, Saturday's out for me. (Autism Walk + boyfriend's birthday = exhausted me.) I'll hang around this thread, though, if you do something Friday or Sunday I might potentially be in.
Enjoy our city! Let us know if you need more food/entertainment suggestions than your AskMe dinner thread.

After 6/4 is bad for us, as is the 29th. How's Thursday or Friday the 26/27 look?
Any thoughts of what you'd like to do or see? :)

How about the 27th?
I was in PGH twenty years ago when I was thinking about transferring to Pitt; I liked the city, but I was also accepted at Emerson and Boston is one of my favorite places.
I'll be making several daytrips too.

I mostly want to hit the museums and historic sites; my dad told me he's most interested in seeing Ft.Pitt.

There's no historic site like the Bayernhof!
I have been know to show at a meetup or two.

MrFTBN, we were ALL newbies once! :-)
It took me 1/2 an hour, three songs on the jukebox and a whiskey before I was able to approach jonmc at my first.
Also, dinner with my dad comes after the meetup...I think I'll pick one of the downtown places for him and check out the others on my own.

I'll be there, with possibly two friends, at least one of which is an occasional lurker...

I *just* noticed this. I think I can make it, and I'll bring other Greenfield Mefites. I'll also be bringing a tiny (but mostly silent) human.

From pennbrew.com: "Reservations are not required, however are recommended for parties of 6 or more. Call the restaurant at 412-237-9400 (press 3 for the restaurant) and speak to one of our staff members who will be more than happy to assist you.
On Friday and Saturday evenings, we accept only 2-3 reservations for larger dinner parties arriving by 6:00 p.m. which are seated in our Ratskeller Room or outdoor Biergarten."

I've made the reservation for Metafilter at 6. We'll be in the main dining room. I'm wearing a pink shirt and navy pants.
See you soon!

I will have trouble making it by six, as I will be working until about 530, and it's a 30+-minute bus trip when it's not rush hour. However, if there will be a quorum at 6, I say let's go for it & the rest of us can show up when we can. Especially because:
the Blind Boys of Alabama are playing at 8 tonight at the 3 Rivers Arts Festival.
