Mmm, ice cream.
Options:
- As I posted in the MetaTalk thread, we have a deck, a fenced backyard, and an ice cream maker and are walking distance from the best playground in St. Paul, so
as long as your dog is (like mine) sufficiently lazy not to jump a low-ish chain link fence,and dogs as well as local adult MeFites. - Nominate your favorite ice cream shop below! I'll just assume everyone else agrees that good ice cream is worth traveling for so don't be shy.
Yes! I am interested in this! It's been far too long! :)

I haven't done an IRL MeFi meetup before, but if I'm back in town (last half of July works for me), I want this to be the very first one! I <3 ice cream way too much to pass the opportunity up. :)
I'm a big fan of Pumphouse but, really, all ice cream is good.

I'd love to! That sounds excellent. I may be out of town the weekend of the 14th, but no firm plans yet.
I'm new to the area, so am taking note of the ice cream reccs, as I've tried very few places yet.

Kids of all ages are welcome. I may have to reconsider the dogs part because it turns out my dog is reactive towards others. She's only been here 10 days so if she learns to chill out in the meantime other dogs can come.

My grandkids call it "Fortress Park." It's awesome.
Also, Izzy's and Grand Ole Creamery are tied. My grandkids disagree. They like Izzy's and nothing else.

Can we set a date for this? If I'm reading everything here correctly, it looks like the weekend of the 20th - 22nd works for everyone who has replied. I am busy the next two Saturdays but Fridays and Sundays for the rest of the month are pretty open for me.

Also, that is my street but the random dot Google Maps dropped in is not my house! I left the number off to preserve the thin veil of anonymity still left between my username and real self but will MeMail it to confirmed attendees as the date gets closer.

20th-22nd works for me. I just got back from being out of town the only weekend I'm gone, but this coming weekend is the Zine Librarians unConference and I'm going to that, so the weekend following is the best.

Also I have an ice cream maker as well and would be happy to bring it if you like - I can do a batch of a vegan ice cream or a sorbetto if folks are interested in that.

Any kind of ice cream or topping anyone wants to bring is great!
Additional ice cream makers are good as well. Ours is the kind that attaches to a KitchenAid mixer so we'll probably have to make and freeze it in advance. I might pick up some cream and rock salt so the kids (or anyone) can try the ziploc bag method.
Dog update: she has been good with my nieces and the neighbor boys, so should be fine with kid visitors. We haven't tried interacting with other dogs much yet.

I have waffle cones! And am planning to make marshmallow ice cream, hot fudge, and something else in the ice cream maker (suggestions welcome, especially non-dairy recipes) between now and Saturday.
The weather forecast looks like perfect ice cream weather, so if you are on the fence about coming, do it!

I ended up in the area for work (staying in Hudson), just happened to glance at IRL and there's apparently a thing going on! I will hopefully make it, depending on how much work I can get out of on Saturday.

I've MeMailed my address to all the yeses. I'll check back here periodically to see if anyone else switches from maybe to yes. Feel free to message me as well.
Regretfully, I have to rescind the dog part of the invitation. My dog is generally chill with people (including kids and strangers) but very reactive to other dogs, especially ones her size or larger. All your human family members are still welcome!
I have six patio/folding chairs for hanging out on the deck, so if the weather holds and you can bring an extra that would be great.
See you all this afternoon!

Just realized all I have to drink is water, a few sodas, and some beer and wine. This is a no shame zone if you want to day drink while eating ice cream, but if you and yours would like something different, please bring it.
