Sat February 19 at 7:00 PM, The Alibi Room
157 Alexander St, Vancouver, BC V6A, Canada (Map & Directions)
I am new to Vancouver, and was hoping to meet some local MeFites. Anyone up for a meetup this month?
How's Friday the 18th, Saturday the 19th, or Friday the 25th?

19th works for me. Out of town on the 18th and 25th.

Related: if anyone is up for anything informal tomorrow (the 8th) or Wednesday, I'll be there until Thursday afternoon.

geckoinpdx: I had planned to see the movie "Another Year" tomorrow night, if that's something that interests you. otherwise, I'd be up for dinner on Wednesday night if that suits you.

let's go with the 19th for the meetup. thoughts on venue?

I will not be present myself, but when I willed a meetup into existence in Vancouver last December, The Alibi Room -- apparently a favourite meetup spot -- was eminently suitable.

I can't come, because I'm going to my cousin's birthday party at the Tiki Lounge at the Waldorf. Then again, the Tiki Lounge would be a hip place for a meetup. Limited seating and likely crowded though, if I recall.

Yes, the Alibi Room is the favoured space for web meetups. (Lack of seating and noisy is the kiss of death for these things.)

You'd want to book a table if it's going to be a Saturday evening though, Gastown rapidly runs out of space at the weekends.

Forgot all about the whole no-data-outside-the-US thing. Sorry, gursky. I will definitely be back though. I almost like it here more than Portland...

I'm interested; I keep missing the meetups!

Although, as a (mostly) lurker who's never been to one, what generally occurs at a Meetup other than food and beer?

Damnit, so close! I'm coming in on the 24th.

Hakaisha: food, beer, and lots of talking. sometimes games. you should come!

I'll try to make it, as I said before the December meet, I keep meaning to check out Alibi

also, I need to remember to visit IRL section of MeFi more often!

AHH, rats. due to some weird timing conflicts with my new landlord, this weekend is out for me.

the Alibi Room is booked up for Saturday, however, so if anyone is going ahead with the meetup as planned, be advised!

hopefully i can get another one together in the coming months.

So, I 'm packing the Jeep up now, and heading to Squamish.

Conference ends at 3 Pm, Friday.

The meteorologists are yacking about snow on the Sea To Sky in their driving forecasts

Is this meeting on Saturday, on or off?

So ... reading this over ... I'm gonna go with "not happening". No worries, the snow will be awesome in Whistler.
