Go-karts in the Portland-ish area

Sat March 24 at 12:30 PM, SyKart Indoor Racing Center
8205 SW Hunziker St, Tigard, OR, USA (Map & Directions)
Go-Kart racing at SyKart Indoor Racing Center! We have 2 slots left!
We've been talking about going go-karting for a while now, and after some research and a trial run, we think this is our best option.
Important details:
* We have 6 racing slots reserved. Right now 2 of those slots are unclaimed if you want to join us.
* This is just for fun. No prior experience or skill is necessary.
* Arrival time is 12:30pm, race time is 1:00pm.
* Cost per person: $20 for 1 race; $30 for 2 races; $40 for 3 races. You can decide if you want to keep racing as you go.
* There is a small-ish viewing area if you want to watch but not race.
* If you haven't raced before, you may be surprised at how physically demanding it can be! It's not uncommon to be sore the next day.
* The karts are kind of... grimy. Wear clothes you won't mind getting dirty. Helmets and a head sock are required but are provided.
* Races are about 10 minutes long with a break in between.
* There's a meeting room we'll have access to prior to start time and between races.
* We can bring in food and (non-alcoholic) drinks, but there's no food onsite except maybe some vending machines.
* Be familiar with the safety rules (They'll also go over those when we arrive).
Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

I'm actually okay with either date, with a slight preference for Saturday.

Oh, and I'm up for 3 races. Also, I live in SW Portland (near Multnomah Village), if that helps anyone with carpooling.

This pops up for most Seattle Mefites. If there are any other Mefites from the Main PNW city who have an interest in going down, hit me up. I love go-karts but need an arm twist for the drive south.

Ah, sorry! I was worried that it wouldn't show up in the default radius for Portlanders, since it's pretty out of the way, so I set the regional flag. You're welcome to come, but that is a long trip.
I guess there isn't as much interest as we thought? We can move the date around if that's an issue.

Search your feelings, MeFites - you know it to be true. You feel the Need for Speed.

We're about to make the reservation, so I made a few edits and put them in bold. Last call for racers!

What do we reckon food-wise - light snacks and plenty of water, or do we want to wait on food and find somewhere to go eat and have a beer post-karting? It looks like there's quite a few places nearby.

We’re planning to bring a selection of salty, crunchy snacks & some water. We are likely to have an early lunch prior to heading to the karting center, but I would be super down with catching a beer or something afterward, MAYBE AT FIDO’S, THE DOG TAP HOUSE?!

That's got to be one of the weirder tap lists I've ever seen, even by Portland standards! The presence of dogs isn't on my list of priorities when choosing a pub, so I'll just go with the majority vote.

I would hell of go to a dog pub if no one has a (totally legit so please do state it if it's a dealbreaker) dog allergy objection.

The presence of dogs is eternally on my list of priorities but I am way, way not a reasonable person.
I’d be glad to raise a glass (though there will probably be cider or wine in it) where ever!

To clarify my last (I now realize) passive-aggressive sounding comment, I'm not against Fido's at all, dogs are fine. I just don't have a specific preference either way.

Oh I didn’t think your comment seemed passive aggressive at all! I’m just... like, wayyy too into dogs and I have that place on the brain since seeing the post about it yesterday.

Race time tomorrow! Unfortunately the backup racers we had in mind can't make it, so it'll probably just be the four of us. See you there!

I have been shouting at random karts and kart-like objects to go, just to try and tune the general vibe of the universe in the right direction.

I've been shouting that at other drivers since I was a teenager; so I guess I'm ready, in that sense at least.
