Philadelphia! Board games? BOARD GAMES

A timely followup thread, for once! Who's up for some more board games in mid- to late June?
As usual, Frankford Hall will be the default venue- they have big tables, quality booze, and, most importantly, are convenient for people to reach by most forms of mass transit.

Feel free to post games you enjoyed and would like to see again (Machi Koro and Gloom were definitely hits at our last meetup), suggest new games, or, you know, whatever. Non-MeFites are of course welcome, so feel free to invite friends. They may not be part of our elite confraternity of people who paid $5, but if you vouch for them, that's good enough.

Later this evening I'll be creating and posting a link to a shared Google document we can use to list, organize and rate non-MeFi games meetups in the greater Philadelphia area. If it turns out to be reasonably useful, I'll include a link to it in every future Frankford Hall meetup thread.

One last thing: I'm looking to put together a group for the first season of Pandemic Legacy. It's a spinoff of the popular Pandemic that many of you are familiar with; the "Legacy" system is one tested earlier in a Risk spinoff, where a number of games are played in sequence, each with permanent consequences that change the rules of the next game.

One MeFite has already expressed interest, so we just need two more to get this off the ground. Ideally, players would:
  • have time to meet up regularly (I'm thinking once every couple of weeks might be ideal, though that, along with time and place, are of course negotiable).
  • be either new to Pandemic or relatively inexperienced: Pandemic is a wonderful game, but more experienced players can be frustrated by those of us who are newcomers, and backseat driving is unfortunately common. This isn't a knock on anyone who's spent time with the game; more an observation that skill levels are a bit stratified and it might be more fun/funnier over the long term if we all fail together.
  • finally, and most importantly, have like $15. I'm still shopping around, but I'm confident we can cap the cost of the game around $15-$17.50 per player. It's not really replayable, per se, but that's the cost of about one and a half movie tickets for somewhere between 12 to 24 sessions of Pandemic Legacy.
Send me a message if this sounds like something you'd be into!

We have a third player, Metafilter's own Diskeater! Still one slot open.

Man, I wish my schedule was more flexible these days - I don't get to come visit you folks nearly often enough - and I already have an unplayed copy of Pandemic Legacy.

WHOOO PANDEMIC LEGACY!

Also, as regards June, I'm out of the country until the 13th, but weekends are free after that.

If we do Sundays consistently, I could play Pandemic: Legacy. Once a month though. Also, if we have more than one slot open, my partner would probably be down.

We're up to three of four at the moment, unfortunately :( As for Sundays, I'll check in with people, but since that's our usual day for MeFi board game meetups, it's probably our best option. Once a month might be difficult, though, since the shortest Pandemic Legacy can go is twelve games, and that's if we win every single one, I think.

How we lookin' for some board games on a Sunday in June?

Good, I hope! Sorry I've been incommunicado; an unexpected family emergency cropped up and I've been out of state.

How does the 28th look? I'm open to the 21st as well, but figure more notice would be best for most people...

Hmm, those are both Tuesdays. I can really only do Sundays.

Sorry, meant the 19th and 26th. Lookslike I somehow flipped my phone calendar back to February without noticing.

Cool! For me personally the 26th would be better, though I could make either if needed.

Those are fine for me!

OK, going to set it up for the 26th.

Just wanted to say that if anyone wants to bring and play Lords of Waterdeep, I'm quite fond of that game. As always, down for whatever though!

I'm up for it! It'll probably take me a full game turn to get back up to speed since I've only played it a couple times, but it was fun :)

Hey everybody's day, just a heads up to say I'm running a little late- probably no more than 10'minutes. If you beat me there, which is likely, please pick w table and feel free to get started!

Small meetup and just had a worry - someone IS bringing games, right?

Also I'm on my way. Also probably 10 late though!
