Sat March 26 at 1:00 PM, Philadelphia Museum of Art
2600 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy, Philadelphia, PA, USA (Map & Directions)
I'll be in Philly for the visiting exhibition on international pop art. It looks fascinating, and will be even more fun when viewed with fellow MeFites!
Right now I suggest meeting at the exhibit entrance at 1 p.m. and ending with coffee together at a museum café around 3 p.m. or 4 p.m. However, times are flexible.
I plan to arrive early to view art on my own, then meet up with the group. I'm coming the night before and will be staying with friends in Center City. I've been to Philadelphia a handful of times but haven't visited the museum yet. What better time than now and better people than you?!
It appears you can save $5 on admission by purchasing your ticket online before March 15.

Thanks for the update and feedback on the exhibit, Merzbau! How much time do you recommend for it?
I'll be sending you and kalimac my contact info for meeting up. I'm looking forward to this, and hope more people can join us as well!

I'm not sure, to be honest- I kind of raced through it taking notes on possible works to write about for a paper. If it's anything like last weekend, the crowd will be dense but not unmanageably so. Two hours seems about right for really taking it in, with some wiggle room in case it's really packed.

I saw it pre-opening (WHOOP WHOOP MEMBERSHIP), and with even light crowds I think it took me a good hour, though I didn't take eeeeverything in.
(And wow, I will have to check out the modern & contemporary galleries now -- I usually find them a bit disappointing, hopefully there's something awesome cycled in!)

Just an update for those who might join us at the last minute: I plan to wear a maroon jacket and stand to the side of the entrance a few minutes before (and a few minutes after) 1 p.m. I'm really looking forward to this!

kalimac- I should've taken better notes, but the most noticeable additions were some very late (mid- to late 2000s) Richard Hamilton photomontages; there's also a newish Joseph Kosuth installation that incorporates bits of the Duchamp collection.
I'll be wearing an orange Hausu t-shirt and a haircut I am already starting to regret. And, you know, pants and shoes and stuff.

Thanks again for a wonderful meet-up! I look forward to returning to the Philadelphia Museum of Art soon and seeing you both when I'm back in Philly one day!
