Albuquerque was a success, so now we turn our eyes to Santa Fe. Meetup confirmed: let's meet at the Cowgirl Cafe on Sunday, Feb. 28 at 10 AM!

I think we should look to Sunday, as I know at least one person will be busy on Saturdays.

Also, another MeFite mentioned Taco Truck Tuesdays as an alternate meet-up in ABQ, but since I'm not at all available to do that, I'll pass the torch to a local Burqueño to manage that effort.

Sun. 21 or 28 are equally good for me. Do we want to do a brunch, or lunch?

Totally bummed to miss the Albuquerque event, but taking a ride up to SF might be fun. Mostly chiming in here to say "My timing is terrible but please lets keep meeting!"

Bummed I missed out on the ABQ meetup, I ended up having a conflict.

February 21-28 is Santa Fe Restaurant week ... <-- list of restaurants we could meet at or avoid completely.

I wish my (birth)mom was a MeFite. She's been living in Santa Fe for ages and would definitely fit in with everyone. She makes Bernie look middle-of-the-road.

Thorzdad, you can send her a link to this, and she can join as an honorary MeFite. I've brought my parents-in-law to a few meetups in NM.

Boone - have you had any experience with Restaurant Week in Santa Fe? Is it something to avoid, or join?

On review of the Restaurant Week participants in Santa Fe, not many offer dinner, and most who do are $$ or $$$-rated. My only point of reference is that, plus Gil's Thrilling (and Filling) Gastronome Blog for most restaurants in NM, because I haven't really ventured to that many places here, despite being in the state over 3 years and having driven through/past much of it, even stopping around and about.

In other words - can anyone throw out some suggestions for brunch or lunch? Kid friendly is a plus, as I think we'll tow along our lil' tot and tyke, who are generally well-behaved, but have moments of being less than polite. But that's just my selfish request, so don't put too much weight in that aspect.

Brunch/Lunch suggestions that are kid friendly:
Second Street Brewery (their website doesn't have a menu, but they have typical brewpub fare and nice salads)
Tecolote Cafe (PDF)
Southside Plaza Cafe (PDF)
Backroads Pizza

I'm sure other people can think of places too...

Random possibilities
Del Charro or Zia Diner? Harry's might be an option another time, when its warmer and the patio is more inviting.

Sadly, Zia Diner has shut its doors.

I haven't been to Tecolote since they moved but it was one of my favorites when I lived in SFe, so it has a vote from me. It also takes zero armtwisting to get me to Cowgirl, and they have a small event room we could possibly grab.

Wow. I didn't expect that. Pretty much, I'm good with anything listed. Should we nail down a date?

I forgot about Cowgirl - they have a kids play area with a jungle gym and some other stuff and then picnic tables to sit at. I think that area is pretty popular and we'd need to make reservations to sit there.

Hey, I think I could actually make this one! My first thought was the Cowgirl, the Blue Corn Cafe (has a spot downtown and also out on Cerrillos near I-25) and I love Cafe Fina which is farther up the freeway (but it is usually really crowded). Are there folks who are planning to ride the Railrunner? If so… Cowgirl is in walking distance from the station.

I'll check with some foodie friends and see if they have anything.

Are we thinking this weekend or next?

Cowgirl sounds perfect, and this weekend works for us, but given that it's pretty short notice now, how about next Sunday?
posted by filthy light thief at 8:27 PM on February 18, 2016

I'll do my usual mass-mailing of folks this weekend.

Future planning/potential: a weekend evening of food, drinks and games at our house in Rio Rancho, later in March?

we have a place, and a date -- 11ish?

Did a date get decided on? Sorry to enter this thread so late.

I think this Sunday!

Yes, Sunday seemed to have more/most consensus, and I picked 11 AM to go with korej's suggestion. Shall we? Let's!
posted by filthy light thief at 8:22 AM on February 26, 2016

We'll be there!
posted by korej at 10:06 AM on February 26, 2016

I can make it as well.

We won't make it, but might be able to make the March meetup. Have fun, all!
