Sun April 12 at 11:00 AM, Beaver's in Houston
2310 Decatur Street, Houston, TX, USA (Map & Directions)
On Sunday, April 12, 2015, me and my little family will be on our way home from Spring Break in Austin and we'd like to see the Houston Crew on the way. We'll be hitting your city around 10:30. Where's a good place we can get together and eat eggs and pancakes and maybe other brunchy stuff?
Looks like it will be 11am on Sunday at Beaver's in Houston.
The wife and I love to go out for brunch, and I think the place we've been back to most is Beaver's. It's smaller than some of the others recommended but the variety of food and drinks is impressive. I think we're out of town that weekend though...

Beaver's is good and usually not too crowded for brunch. Plus - beavers.

Beeeeeeavers. I think my vote is going for Tiny Boxwoods. If we're doing the democracy thing, which I also happen to think is way overrated.
But if we're using the Single Transferable Vote system, then this gets my second round vote: Baba Yega.

Baba Yega also looks great. Any idea what the buffet costs for kids?

Wow. Great menu at Tiny Boxwoods, too. I guess it comes down to who can handle a large table of weirdos.

Hmm. Tiny Boxwoods used to be more gluten-free friendly. Downvoting based on their new menu.

Yay! I have been out of town for the last two proposed meet ups but can make this one. Baba Yega has lots of veggie and vegan items in addition to their GF stuff so they get my vote.

it looks like 2 votes for Beavers and 3 for Baba Yega? Should we make a reservation?

Every time I say "Beavers", my wife frowns disapprovingly. Can we call it Beavers for 11 on Sunday?

I'm cool with either, but I particularly like disapproving wives.

Beeeeeeavurrrrrs. Okay. The little one and I will see everyone at Beaver's on Sunday at 11, right? That's what we're doing?

Yep, I think it's confirmed.
Also ColdChef, this has been bugging me since your last comment: how does your wife feel about Buc-ees, if she disapproves of beavers?

Okay, just called Beavers. They laughed and laughed. They said they can't seat us at one table except at the bar. The reservations are under Metafilter.

Might be a problem with ColdChef's kiddo? We'll figure it out. I'll be a few minutes late but see y'all there.

Baba Yega would be ideal for All The Brunch Things in a buffet sort of way.
Lola in the Heights would also be good because they do all the brunch things, just a la carte.
Backstreet Cafe, lovely as it is, has portions that just leave me wanting more. (Oh who am I kidding? I just order two entrees.)
Hugo's is wonderful but pricey and also doesn't have more of the traditional brunch stuff. I don't think this is our best option for this particular outing.
Ditto for Churrasco's, unless someone is really angling for there to be a roast pig at brunch.
