Edit: We have moved to Perdition, since the Three Monkeys was a madhouse.
As suggested by hactar, we're going to try The Three Monkeys in Midtown. Start time this week is 7pm. And as far as I can tell from their website, there will be no terrible open mics.

Place is more crowded than when I was here on a Friday. I vote for a new bar, will wait for you guys outside. If the proposal carries, will update thread with new location.

well, it looks like the building 2 doors from mine exploded (the east village fire/gas explosion) so I'll be dealing with those logistics. Have a few beers for me!

I got lucky (I'm on 7th st, and am 2 buildings down from the corner) and just have a very smokey apt (goddamn my habit of always having a window or two open), but I wasn't allowed home until after 11, since buildings were actively collapsing. (which fair enough, the fire took out an ENTIRE CITY CORNER, I'd rather stay alive and out of the way). It sounded like the bulk of the fire was out by 5am, and firefighters were wrapping up/organzing things as I left for work. Whole area is still cordoned off by police though.
This is definitely going to be interesting to live through the next few days as people try to pick up the pieces, and sort out what they are doing. This was a FUCKING MASSIVE FIRE.
