Momos and shouting!

Sat January 31 at 8:00 PM, Casa de taff
Summer Hill Station railway underpass, Summer Hill NSW 2130, Australia (Map & Directions)
It's been a while since the last meetup. Let's get together to eat momos and play board games.
Location: Summer Hill, at Casa de Taff. Taff will email her address to attendees.

Food: Potluck! Everyone bring a plate of some sort of delicious foodstuff. Taff will compel Mr Taff to make the aforementioned delicious momos as an entree.

BYO booze (if you are so inclined), and board games that you wish to play. I will supply the horribly offensive but very fun Australian edition of Cards Against Humanity, and the very silly but highly enjoyable Pucket!

Oh cool! I would like to come very much but will have to wait to see whether a compulsory work thing that weekend is Fri, Sat or Sun evening. Hopefully it won't clash.

Can't I'm afraid. In Melbourne that weekend for a hens night. Buggerit.

These are both excellent reasons to have another meetup soon.

Argh, I have to go to an engagement party that day. Let's have another soon soon! Maybe in March?
posted by jrobin276 at 1:45 AM on January 14, 2015

Oh boo, I can't come. I'll be in Marrickville at the Skid Row dinner that night. If by chance any other Sydney MeFites will be there, message me and let's say hello to each other there. And yes to another meetup soon. I'm new-ish and would love to meet some of you.

OK, if we don't reach a critical mass, taff and I will put our heads together and resched.

Please don't reschedule for the weekend directly following, because I'll be in Canberra!

dammit lollusc come on throw me a freakin' bone here.

I'm switching this back to 'proposed'. When is good for peeps?

Bones. Need more bones.
posted by taff at 11:27 PM on January 14, 2015

I can do basically any other day ever, apart from between the 2nd and the 9th of February. I'm still hoping that the 31st will be cool, too, but i won't know until closer to the time, and anyway it sounds like almost no one else can make it then.

Other people, throw bones!
posted by lollusc at 12:26 AM on January 15, 2015

I've free second half of February.
posted by stellathon at 4:11 AM on January 15, 2015

I'm busy the weekend of the 31st of Jan (could do the 1st of Feb at a pinch), and the 21-27*th feb. Otherwise free.

*Subject to change, as dependent on the highly variable Antarctic flight schedule.

Momos and Mefites? I'm in! Relatively flexible with dates but may be away over Australia Day weekend.
posted by embrangled at 4:54 PM on January 15, 2015 [1 favorite]

I am TBC, just because I've been leaning on my partner's hospitality with kid-wrangling for a few weekends in a row by that weekend, and I need to make sure she's cool with it. But logistically, I'm pretty sure there's nothing on...

That sounds really awesome, and just a short hop down the train line from me. I would love go come, please let me know what to bring.
posted by arha at 3:39 AM on January 17, 2015 [1 favorite]

Or actually reading the damn thread. I am ok for weekend date bar the 8th of Feb.
posted by arha at 3:45 AM on January 17, 2015

Ooh, I can do the 31st now if we still end up going with that!
posted by lollusc at 3:50 AM on January 17, 2015

As above - wedding stuff Jan 31st and Feb 28th; houseguest arriving Feb 20. Early Feb good 14-15 in particular.

I seriously have zero plans in March.

So...are we on for the 31st?
posted by taff at 2:54 AM on January 22, 2015

Yes, are we? I'm in, but confused.
posted by arha at 3:15 AM on January 22, 2015

Sorry, it's been a rough week and today some spectacularly absurd stuff happened. Yes, as we seem to have a quorum, we're on. I'll confirm it.
posted by His thoughts were red thoughts at 5:10 AM on January 22, 2015

OK gang, all confirmed.

Who's bringing what foodage? I nominate myself for chocolate chip biscuits, which I am good at. Made with Haigh's dark chocolate couverture, no less.
posted by His thoughts were red thoughts at 5:15 AM on January 22, 2015

I'm afraid I'll have to be boring with foodstuff and grab something from a shop on my way, as we'll be spending the day escorting a visitor around the sights of Sydney and won't have time to cook, or go home in between. So that in mind, I'm happy to pick up whatever food component we are likely to need and that can be reasonably sourced somewhere between the CBD and Taff's house. Breads? Deli stuff? Berries? A roast chicken? All of the above?
posted by lollusc at 3:39 PM on January 22, 2015

Oh boo, I can't make the 31st :/ See you all at the next one!
posted by embrangled at 5:39 PM on January 22, 2015

This sounds like fun but I'll be at a friend's engagement party. Hope it's a great night!

Booze and munchies and spare undies!

I don't have a car, and the trip is too far away via public transport (esp. late at night) :(

Oh bum. That's disappointing. Where are you now?
posted by taff at 2:56 AM on January 29, 2015

Dear persons, just to say I would come if I could. Am quite good at shouting when required. However, must work Saturday. Have a good night, and I hope to join you next time.

Dayum. I was gonna give you a spool of NBN to tuck in to your blazer pocket to take home with you.

If you should end up changing your mind, we're on a bus route and you can leave early if you want to. Email me if you get game.
posted by taff at 7:23 PM on January 29, 2015

Also, it seems like people are pretty busy and may not want to cook. We can always order in - Da Vinci's pizza in Summer Hill is great, and there's plenty of other food around.

Instead of baking, I will go get fresh baklava.

Momos are meat filled (beef) so anyone wanting vegetarian alternatives might want to consider that. I'll attempt raita.
posted by taff at 2:50 PM on January 30, 2015

We shall also bring some cider.

Poop! It will happen again. Xx

Smoke! Your failure to attend has resulted in a recounting of the time when you spoke harshly but reasonably to taff about some fraught business regarding a cat that suffered at the point of her hose. We are judging the you of 2009.

Oh jesus I was so afraid that would happen. My nightmare has been realised, as I sit here in a puddle of my own shame. I think it's shame, I don't want to taste it.

I have the qld election results to comfort me. Please don't get rid of Tony guys, he's doing great really! Next federal election totes won't be a repeat of tonight in qld.

Found it. Damn, what a frigging hoo ha, MeFites really are crazy about cats look at all those responses after resolution. My answer rocked! And I'm glad I didn't tell you not to spray the cat, that little fucked deserved a dousing. I can tell I didn't have kids reading that, my patience has, alas, been wholly diverted now. These days I probably would have been telling you to put some piss and stinky tofu in a water pistol!

Great night! Thanks Taff for the hospitality and momos. Wish I had some now.

Who the hell won in the end?
posted by arha at 3:13 PM on January 31, 2015

I did. I win everything.

Any other version of the result will be powerfully hosed down. Mwahahahahaha.

Shonias was a formidable opponent....but ultimately too slow to claim victory here polite to win. #myozversionofhistory

That was a great evening. Thanks, all! Mollusk can't stop talking about how much fun he had, which is super unusual for Mr I-hate-people-why-do-we-have-to-socialise.

I believe there was a tie for most offensive on the night. I'll have to lift my game to take away sole honours next time.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to meet so many top shelf folks.
posted by shonias at 12:09 AM on February 1, 2015

I have ordered some expansion packs, so if we do a next round, it will be 20% more offensive.
posted by His thoughts were red thoughts at 1:29 AM on February 1, 2015

I am proud to claim that I am equally as offensive and terrible as shonias. But I shall work diligently towards becoming an even more horrible person by the next time we all meet.
