4140 Broadway, New York, NY, USA (Map & Directions)
The UPCA will have a special holiday presentation of It's A Wonderful Life on Sunday, December 21st. Doors open at 4pm, Christmas caroling and an introduction by Donna Reed's daughter, Mary Owen, at 5pm, movie starts at 5:30pm. Tickets are $10 online (+$2.25 fee), $15 at the door, $5 for children under 12, or free if you're wearing a tuxedo or gown.
Ever since NBC bought the exclusive broadcast rights from Republic Films, I never get to see this movie anymore. I miss being able to just stumble across it on tv and watch it uninterrupted (the NBC broadcast version, stretched out with clips of celebrities yammering on about how much they love the movie, is nigh unwatchable). Seeing it on a big screen would be a new experience though. Who's in?

I'm interested in attending this, but I cannot wear a gown. Also, I've never been to one of these - do they tend to get crowded? Do you have to show up early to get a good seat? I'd like to see it, but not enough to show up an hour early.

None of the ones I've been to have been super-crowded, I don't think you need to show up early. The seating is fine pretty much wherever you sit, barring getting stuck behind someone tremendously tall. But even then, with the sloped seating it would just obstruct the subtitles a little.

(I'm not sure I can make it after all now though - wasn't up early enough to snag the laundry machines first, so I've still got a few loads to go.)
