They're both a short walk from Capitol Hill

Rally to Restore Sanity Seattle will support the national Rally to Restore Sanity. Who wants to be part of a local MeFi contingent?
I would suggest meeting for breakfast first, but, hoo boy, early. Maybe we can get an early lunch somewhere afterward.

I'm up for this.

By God, I may actually attend a Mefi meetup again!

Oooh I'll come. I'm down for breakfast beforehand too if it's on the hill.

So are we doing this? Are we meeting somewhere?

Yes! How about meeting 8:30 at the Belgian waffle place downtown? More details when I get home.

Sorry I haven't been able to post details sooner. This has been an insane week at work, and I've gotten home so late most nights that I just collapsed soon thereafter.

I propose meeting at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow morning at Sweet Iron Waffles, 1200 3rd Ave, between University and Seneca. I saw a lineup for the rally and Stewart isn't supposed to go on until 1 a.m. PDT = 10 a.m. here, so it'll be OK if we are a little late there. Still in?

See you there. Hopefully others will come too!!

D'oh! -- I didn't look at the time before I posted as 'maybe.' Unfortunately, I have to be elsewhere at 9:00 this morning but I will try to swing by on the way home and see if I can get there by 10:00. If I manage to miss you all there, I hope to see you later at the bumper cars at the Center this afternoon.

Well, I did make it down but what with rushing out right after I posted the comment above, and the size and crush of the crowd at the rally and then me with my old school pre-G phone, there was no way of hooking up with anyone unless I bumped into them IRL. Which, alas, I did not get to do. So, I missed you. Dang!

Still, despite my aversion to standing around in a large crowd, not to mention standing round in a large crowd, watching jumbotron TV, not to mention standing round in a large crowd, watching jumbotron TV in the rain with a large crowd when I could have been home watching TV by my own sweet self in my warm dry apartment, that is, if I had cable--still, despite all that, I was glad I went, if just to know there were like minded folks, and some some with home made signs a bit more intelligent than the average bear's homemade sign at that, having fun together in a well produced rally with plenty of portapotties.

And, I hear from my friend Susan, who was there far longer than me, that the whole place was spotless clean within minutes after the rally ended. It was really a well produced event, both nationally and locally.

So I am glad I showed up. Even if I did split fairly soon thereafter. (I would have stuck around longer, had Susan called me when I was still downtown, as opposed to on the bus on my way home, but them's the breaks...) And I was also glad that so many other folks showed up as well. It really was a rally for sanity and, as such, it hit the spot: providing some catharsis and maybe a little restoration of my hopes for ever having any faith in my fellow human beings ever again.

And then I got home and found a robocall for Dino Rossi on my landline answering machine--in the words of Nelson Muntz: Ha ha! That little bit of wasted money made me feel even a little bit better.

So, glad I went, sorry, I missed you this monrning but I hope to see you tonight. I'll be there, along with my friend Susan and, I believe, my friend Vera and her daughter Jaya.

Thanks for coming, kthxbi! That crowd was impressive. For future reference, I highly recommend the waffle place. I want another one RIGHT NOW.

Yes! Another waffle! And next time I'll get the pumpkin waffle. Which means I'd better go back soon while it's still in season. See you all shortly at the Seattle center!
