PDX, are you up for a challenge?

...the Challenge of Mondor, that is? It's been a few years since the last Enchanted Meetup, and figured maybe it was time for another.
Confirmed.

This Saturday, 17th of August. We meet at Village Inn at Bridgeport around high noon, caravan down, do enchanted things, caravan back to $beerplace (TBD).

I have no idea this morning if those dates would work but...Mondor...the call of Mondor...I can already feel a phantom aching in my trigger finger.

I prefer the 10th.

The 17th would definitely work.
The 10th? Probably not.

This ... looks like a truly bizarre and quite possibly wonderful thing.

I'll be out of town the 10th, but I think I could do the 17th.

We should remember to bring our IR blasters this time.

They're open through the end of September, if that is any easier on everyone.

I only suggested August because of the longer hours and it's before the rain hits.

The 17th works better for me.

I say we make it so for the 17th.

OK, at this point it looks like the 17th is probably the best bet.

Now how about a rendezvous point/time? Keep in mind many of us are trimet dependent...

(For the record: the 76 stops literally across the street from the VI at Bridgeport; you can catch it at either Beaverton or Tigard TC as well as basically any point on SW Hall. From the westside; it's a long slog but the 12 will drop you right at Tigard TC)

We live near Beaverton Transit Center, so we could pick up a couple people there. We could also meet at Tigard Transit Center since it's not too far out of the way.
You can also transfer to the 76 at Tigard Transit Center.

Our car has space for 2 people (or 3 if you're into that sort of thing).

As for a rendezvous point, the Village Inn in Tualatin works pretty well.
The food is decent, if you want breakfast or lunch.

Do we want to get to Enchanted Forest when they open? Or sometime in the early afternoon?

It looks like we need to make this official.

Here's what I am thinking:

Meet at Village Inn in Tualatin around noon.
We can eat, get coffee, or just occupy the parking lot.
Once all have arrived we can head down to Enchanted Forest and tour the park on mostly full stomachs.

If we are planning to carpool from Tualatin, we may want to take advantage of Trimet's Park & Ride lot across the street from Village Inn.

Should I reschedule? I'm not sensing a whole lot of enthusiasm here.

Yeah, I feel like the critical mass is not coming together this time around. How long is the season? Might be nice to try it on a more autumnal afternoon or something in any case.

We could go for the two-point conversion on this (that's a sports metaphor, right? I think I've heard of sports metaphors somewhere) and just make it the Challenge of Beerdor at Green Dragon this time or something to celebrate logistical collapses.

Season ends 29 September, and it closes at 18:00 (as opposed to 20:00) next month.

Maybe Saturday the 14th?

cortex: We could go for the two-point conversion on this

I think you mean a field goal which is what happens when you're within scoring distance but can't get the ball into the endzone. A two point conversion happens when you've already scored the touchdown, but decide to stretch your luck and do it again instead of Kicking a Point After Touchdown field goal.
Clearly I need to give you a brief lesson on sports metaphors which may also include when it's ok to cross the metaphors into different sports.
Since beer is required for this lesson, a meetup on Saturday at Green Dragon sounds like a great idea.

Anyway....

geckoinpdx: Maybe Saturday the 14th?

That is the weekend of the Metafilter Camping Trip.
However, the following weekend there is a meetup at Victory Bar in the evening.
Seems to me like an idea way to celebrate after the Challenge of Mondor.

I would be in favor of the Green Dragon.
Also, all sports metaphors are accurate so long as you pick the right sport. And the right sport is Calvinball.
