Wed February 6 at 9:30 PM, Spike Hill
186 Bedford Avenue, Brooklyn, NY, USA (Map & Directions)
We doin' it again y'all. Last time many adorable Mefites came out and sang some of their favorite tunes by the Breeders, Cat Power, Weezer, Juliana Hatfield, Guided By Voice and so on and so forth. Also some Mefites just came and took pictures and were cool. But now we've got new songs, and there will be even more weird trivia contests and prizes and bad inside jokes by me your Host, thank god, amirite???
930 doors, show at 10. (It's a little later this time, so happy hour can occur before hand nearby or at this spot or nothing or anything!)

Spike Hill in Brooklyn, which has delicious beers and a restaurant next door.

Want to request songs? Do it here or RSVP on Facebook! Also we have a FB group page if you have to miss this 'un we will keep you informed of future events of which we plan to have many.

Merci pour vous. Merci pour Le Mefiltre.

Wikipedia says it's okay for me to request a song by Franz Ferdinand. Otherwise, I'd like to continue my vagina rock with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Maps.

Fraz Ferdinand I'm not sure about but YYY is a distinct possibility....

Dear Mefites, I will be in Brooklyn this week and and might come rock the mic. Lynyrd Skynyrd is indie, right?

....This gives me ideas.

I do not have dah Facebork. Is Weezer's "Say it ain't so" a possibility?
posted by zippy at 2:06 PM on January 30, 2013

I can also do a scorching "Song of the Passaic" (for small values of "scorching")

Lots of Weezer, not that one in particular but you will be pleased with our Weezer selection. Last time Modern Serf and a bunch of other folks did Jonas, I'd be super extra pleased if you came up and rocked that one Zippy!

Also we do a thing where if someone comes up and plays a sad indie ballad on the guitar and sings it then you get a free beer. So keep that in mind.

This is pretty much all the music I own anyway. But after seeing the ad, I'm going to start with playing lots of Pavement. :) I will try to make it!

I'm in.

Potomac Peter yo, what is your bass players name?
posted by Skygazer at 6:56 PM on February 5, 2013

...I may just be able to make this (may have to leave a bit early, but maybe).

A question - I am really, really fuzzy on who is "indie" and who isn't. What's the take on Blind Melon?
posted by EmpressCallipygos at 6:58 AM on February 6, 2013

EmpressCallipygos, indie music requires, or at least strongly encourages, practitioners to make use of semi-ironic sweater vests and beards, while rock music instead tends towards unironic leather pants and chest waxing.

I hope this helps.

Even in women? I think you have that confused with Tolkien dwarves.

Point of order - I just checked the web site and it says that the show starts at 8. Is there a second show after at 10?

Exactamundo!

We're on after the early folks. We'll be there taking sign-ups at 930 though so come find me in front of the stage wearing an ironic sweater vest as a beard.

The band rotates a little bit this time his name is James but last time it was Steve and they are both great guys!

EC part of the reason to have this show is to make jokes about how silly definitions of indie rock are the debate of which is always hilarious to me.

As to songs: here are the ones we know right now, on Facebook!

I'll see everyone there!!!!!!1!

I'm sorry Potomac Peter, looks like I am on extended daddy duty tonight. Frack!

Break a leg everyone!

My choice would've been the extra recursively significant version of Just like Heaven, as interpreted by Dino Jr.'s.

PS: PP, I thought my old friend Alec might be playing with you guys, he incidentally is also from DC, and plays in a few different karaoke bands.

PPS: He's also in Raging Slab.
