Sun January 20 at 1:00 PM, Carnegie Science Center
Carnegie Science Center, 1 Allegheny Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA, USA (Map & Directions)
This is part 2 of the Metafilter Pittsburgh Carnegie Museums series. This trip we will be visiting the Carnegie Science Center and hanging out on a submarine.
Part 1 was a trip to the Art and Natural Science in Oakland, which was a good time.
Like I said before, I have an annual pass to the Carnegie Museums that grants admission to myself, my husband and up to 8 other adults, so this should mean free admission for most/all of you.
I'm scheduling this for 1pm, but timing is negotiable. Let's meet near the ticket counter.

That's interesting--I did get an alert...
Also a maybe.

I just got the alert this morning, about twelve hours after you posted, don't know if that's a bug or not. We'll probably make it down the hill, we live about four blocks away so we don't have much of an excuse.

Just sent and got a response from the mods, IRL alerts don't go out until midnight PST after the event is posted.

Argh, can't make it because of the infernal 6-year-old birthday party schedule. Every weekend is a death march through indoor play spaces, the only sustenance slabs of cake from Giant Eagle's bakery.

Yep, got the email today. Please disregard the initial flailing, and thanks to octothorpe for checking with the mods.

Alison, my body will be in Ohio, playing Mage: the Ascension all weekend, but my heart will be with you and Chickencoop in a decomissioned submarine.

I'm feeling a bit under the weather, but I haven't seen the science museum before, so I'll be there.
Er... seeing as it's 12:30 now, I might be ten minutes late, or so.

Thanks for another fun outing! (that basketball robot was definitely a bit alarming; glad it's on the other side of the river from me ...)

Thanks so much to everyone who attended! The Science Museum is a little loud and crazy, so thanks for not turning around and running away.
Did anyone make it out to the submarine?

We did. I went through the whole thing, but dc just saw the torpedo room and came back out the entry stairs rather than crawl through 7 hatches. One of the guides told me the boat had had a crew of 81, which is hard to imagine in that space.
Thanks again for organizing the meetup; we had a really nice time.
