We're New York mefites visiting for the holidays! We'll be staying in Chattanooga from Jan. 2-4, and we'd like to meet the locals. Let's get together on the evening of the 2nd or 3rd. Suggestions for venues welcome. (Vegan friendly preferred.)
Oh, no-- I'm on call that week, so I won't be able to travel. Have fun, though!

I'm in if it's the 3rd.
I think Sluggo's is one of the only full-on vegan/vegatarian places open for dinner. It's fine (I don't eat meat, but it's a little too crunchy-granola for my preferences if I were picking someplace solely for me) -- the food is better than the ambiance. I've been told (and HappyCow.net agrees) that Taco Mamacita has a separate vegan menu, but I don't see it on the web site. If so, that might be a fun choice. I've emailed them to see if they can provide a vegan menu for ocherdraco to peruse. More news as it happens.

Happy New Year! I just wanted to let you know that there's an outside chance my client session might run a teeny bit long, so it could be 7:15p by the time I get there. But don't doubt my commitment -- nothing short of pneumonia or a blizzard will keep me away.

We arrived this afternoon, after a stop at Unclaimed Baggage in Scottsboro, and headed directly to Sluggo's, where we had a delicious lunch. Since then we've walked around near the waterfront, had beer at the Hair of the Dog, and more beer at Terminal Brew House. I had a Moon Pie, and multiple conversations with friendly shuttle bus drivers. Tomorrow we will See Ruby Falls, the incline railway and the Hunter Museum before we meet up with y'all. Yay!

Whomever gets there first should probably tell them to make the table for Metafilter, unless you all think you can pronounce "ocherdraco" correctly the first time. I'm not sure I can. :-)
