Wed December 19 at 6:00 PM, Tired Hands Brewing Company
16 Ardmore Ave, Ardmore, PA, USA (Map & Directions)
Hey Main Line (and Philly folk!) Confirmed : December 19th, 6ish! I hear they have housemade candied bacon now, which is probably of interest to many! Come at any point; we'll probably move upstairs when we hit four people or so and I'll update this then. Last month was really fun, want to meet up at Tired Hands again? I know there are some interested parties who haven't been able been able to make it to last ones, and I know ye holidaye parties are upon us, so what time and dates work for everyone?
Beer! Cheese!

Yay! Yes please! In the next three weeks, the only weeknights that I know are bad for me are the 13th, 18th, and 19th. I might have to be at work a little late on the 10th but could still join you all eventually that night. Otherwise, I'm pretty flexible this time around!

I'm down! I can't do anything before the 18th though.

I'd love to come! I probably can't do weekends through the holidays, though, so some convenient weeknight would be great.

Thursdays and Fridays are usually bad for me, but I'd love to attend again.

I'd love to go. I'm busy pretty much nonstop after the 21st but any time before that should be ok.

Hooray-- so, as of right now, I'm leaning towards the 19th given the constraints of my schedule and Tired Hand's openings. Thoughts? Bueller?

If anyone (ahem certain other local member!) is up for informal meetup manhattans on a Monday at some point before that, definitely let me know!

The 19th works for me!
Side question - do any of you go to Science on Tap?
posted by MikeKn at 4:48 AM on December 4, 2012

There have been a few Science on Tap / Nerd Night meetups in the past, yes.

I should add that sadly Tired Hands is closed on Mondays which is adding some constraint. I could also do next Thursday but I'm doing another meetup there on Wednesday...so many carbs...

19th works for me I think.

Also, I just noticed Manhattan Monday and I am SO DOWN.

Anyone coming from Philly who might be able to give me a ride/be my SEPTA buddy?
posted by Katine at 2:33 PM on December 10, 2012

Katine - Quite possibly. I'm still on the fence about attending but if I do I'll be glad to take the regional rail with you. I'd be leaving via Suburban Station around 5:30ish.
posted by Diskeater at 3:19 PM on December 10, 2012

Katine-- it is super easy to get to from the train station and it's a short trip; if you can't find a train buddy, let me know if you'd like detailed directions. See you all soon!

I can't make it on the 19th (SAD FACE) but I'm excited to come back again in January!
posted by jessypie at 8:12 AM on December 11, 2012

Obscure SEPTA question, on the off chance that someone knows: does the R100 or whatever it's called these days stop anywhere near Tired Hands? I'll do regional rail if that's better, but if I can go the cheaper way why not?

Still not entirely sure if I can make the meetup at all, but I'll try!
posted by ActionPopulated at 5:01 PM on December 13, 2012

I'm pretty sure I compared Septa stops on a map and the only one close was the R5. I could be wrong.

If I end up going (I probably won't decide till the day of, since grading exams and who knows how long that'll take) but I'd be happy to drive people from Ucity/center city if I do go.
posted by DoubleLune at 5:27 PM on December 13, 2012

The R100 does stop in Ardmore but it's about a mile away and not something I'd recommend doing at night for the first time-- there are also several buses that run out this way from Center City and 69th St, though I don't know what their time is like during rush hour.

If it helps anyone's decision-making, I hear they have local candied bacon with walnut butter now!

Oh, poo, I'll be in DC on Wednesday. But I went to Tired Hands last week and can confirm it's a great place. Have fun, all!

Katine, are you still thinking of going and in search of a train buddy? I'm pretty sure I can go at this point; aiming to be on a 5:48 train out of 30th street.

Is it too late to say I'll be able to join? I'll be coming in from Philly too – anybody else coming in Philly want to meet up?, cos I don't know how to make it to Tired Hands from the train station.
posted by Rory Marinich at 8:49 PM on December 18, 2012

You should totally come! I'll try to be at TH around 6, but can write detailed directions if desired. (It is basically two blocks away and very easy to get to, I promise.)
posted by jetlagaddict at 8:56 PM on December 18, 2012

Hey Rory, you should totally meet up with me at 30th street if the timing works.
posted by ActionPopulated at 6:53 AM on December 19, 2012

I'm taking the 5:44 train from Suburban. AP, you and I will most likely be on the same train and I'll gladly meet up with you at Ardmore so we can walk to Tired Hands together.

Hey, we're here downstairs! We have books, pickles, and I have pink pants on.
