The Ivy Style Exhibition at the Museum At FIT is a wonderful collection of WASP-y, prep looks and oddities throughout the decades. Friday at 6pm. Refreshments to follow.
It's on the corner of 7th and 27th street, there are lots of signs.

I've been dying to see this and unable to actually commit to go. How about Friday?

I'd like to do this and Fridays are good for me as well.

Friday is also good for me, when abouts then?

Shall we pin it to Friday and settle on the time for people with these " jobs " things I've heard so much about?

6pm? With drinks or some sort of merriment to follow?

6pm could work.

To be thematically consistent we should have vodka tonics on the veranda

I work till 6, would this be something that one could arrive late to?
posted by Hactar at 8:02 PM on November 11, 2012

Sure, we'll still be looking at multicolored suits.

This sounds fascinating, within easy commuting distance of work, and something I would have never found out about otherwise.

Count me in!

It's Manhattan-only meetups for me until they get the PATH trains back to normal service, so, this sounds good to me too.

Not to nitpick but I believe that would be gin. Anyway, if you are ancient like me.

I want to see this, but I don't come back until Monday.

So is this a show up whenever, and we meet up at 6pm and then discuss? or a meet up at 6pm to view the show and then drink sort of a deal?

I am down for either, and will probably be able to show up around 5:30ish.

I think it's meetup at 6, judge each others' outfits, look at fashion, drink, let each other know what we think of each others' outfits.

but i can't find my jacket with the suede patches on the elbows
posted by elizardbits at 6:14 AM on November 14, 2012

the sad thing I could realisticly come up with at least two outfits I own that have a betting chance of being in the show itself.

I thought about wearing appropriate fashion, but I like to rock slovenly hipster chic.

This is half a block from my my office, and I get out of work at 6, so I think I have to go.

Darn, I feel a cold coming on, and will be staying home from work today, no meetup for me after all.
posted by oh yeah! at 4:55 AM on November 16, 2012

Booo.

Oh well, time to raid the closet for thematically appropriate clothing. So many blazers.

I can't decide on the super preppie blazer or the obnoxiously preppie blazer.
posted by The Whelk at 1:02 PM on November 16, 2012

Obnoxiously preppy one of course.

I am wearing black and gray argyle tights. I am tall. I don't think I've met anyone coming to this meetup.

The obnoxiously preppy one

But it's a little too cold for it, I'd have to settle for not looking like a yacht club themed clown.

I only hope that this meetup starts a "beer suit" fad for future meetups!

Ha , SO said I gave him a slight déjà Vu cause I'm wearing his old school tie.

I want you to know that I have been monitoring this thread closely and only am not coming because I have to go home and duct tape my drivers side mirror to my car. Severely disappointed I am going to miss midtown Whelk fashion meetup, especially since I just got new boots. :C

I think I'm the first one here. Sullen woman of color in long coat by the guard.

We're heading inside the museum proper right now. You just walk right in and head left
