Philadelphia Monthly Board Game Meetup

Sun November 18 at 2:00 PM, Frankford Hall
1210 Frankford Ave, Philadelphia, PA, USA (Map & Directions)
Our inaugural board game meetup was a hit! It is time to plan Board Game Meetup 2: The Reckoning.
Frankford Hall turns out to be a great venue for Sunday afternoon meetups, so the consensus seemed to be that we should keep having them there.
Thanksgiving is on the 22nd this year, so let's meet on the Sunday before it (November 18), which leaves us time to have another meetup in early/mid December before things get too crazy with the holiday season.

Nov 18th is the day of the Philly Marathon and Half Marathon, but I can think of nothing better then beer and board games after a race.

Looking forward to it! We had a great group, and the location was perfect. I can do either of those days.
Also the perfect excuse to pick up the copy of Elder Sign that I've been eyeing for months :)

I'm in. Either day works for me. I'll bring all the games I brought last time plus a few more.

Don't see any reason now why either of those wouldn't work. I can bring the first expansion for Dominion next time.

Confirmed for Nov. 18 under the theory that MOAR MEETUPS = MOAR FUN. We can have another one on Dec. 9 or 16!

Newcomers are very welcome! Honestly, having regular Philadelphia meetups is still such a new thing that almost everyone is a newcomer or was on a very recent meetup. I hope you can make it out to join us!

Looks like I will indeed be bringing a copy of Elder Sign- managed to find a nice cheap used copy. If anyone's interested and wants to read up beforehand, the rules are online at the publisher's website here.

I already have an obligation that day, but I should be good for December (unless it ends up too close to finals).

I hope that I'll be able to join you in coming months. In the meantime, I wanted to tell you about an interesting gaming resource in my area, out in West Chester. There's a specialty board game store called The Games Keep here. (No website, but here's some discussion about them on Board Game Geek.) They have open gaming nights on Fridays and some Saturdays, where folks are invited to come in and try out any game. Perhaps once the Philly gaming group is well established, it could pay a visit.

Love The Games Keep. Karl runs a great store.
I'm part of a few game groups that meet at area bars in the burbs (King of Prussia, Paoli, and Collegeville). If anyone wants details, let me know.

See you all this afternoon!
Reminder: The Philadelphia Marathon is today. I hadn't realized how late in the day streets would remain closed - many won't reopen till 4 p.m. If you were thinking about driving or biking, check out the route map and street closures before you hit the road. I'm thinking I'll be taking SEPTA instead of my bike today.

Well I'm really early :). Time for a post race beer or three. I've got games if anyone else wants to show up early.
