Main Line Philly + Beer?!

Wed October 10 at 5:30 PM, Tired Hands
16 Ardmore Ave, Ardmore, PA, USA (Map & Directions)
OCTOBER 10th, Tired Hands! Hello, Main Line! Well, Jessypie has been doing an amazing job organizing meetups in Philly, but I know I'm not the only one out here on the ol' R5. So I propose a meetup for the suburban amongst us! Ardmore can now boast of its own microbrewery, Tired Hands, which offers artisanal beer and cheeses and other nice things. Are other MeFis into these things?
Their Facebook page is updated more regularly, and they're starting a study thing on Tuesdays when it appears that you can come and study literally anything paper-based and get a dollar off some beers. It's only two blocks or so from the Ardmore R5 stop, and by several bus routes/parking lots if you're into those. Further down the line is Hothouse Coffee in the Bryn Mawr Film Institute, which does coffee and such until 8 (but not beer :(), and a variety of other food-based options. Ardmore is only 18 minutes from 30th Street, if anyone from Philly proper is interested.

Update: October 10th, Tired Hands, unless people have strong feelings against the 10th in which case I will have all the beer myself (and write a new one for the 17th.)

Timing: October
When: After business hours on a week day (sorry, usually not in PA on weekends)
Where: Main Line, accessible by regional rail
Who: You, hopefully!
What: Are board games a thing after work? Talking. Beer!

I should clarify: I would be totally open to something along most of the Paoli/Thorndale line, though I suspect Narberth-Wayne would make the most sense. I just know Ardmore and Bryn Mawr in more detail.

I would do something if it were a night I was working in the 'burbs anyway. So Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays? I've been meaning to check out Tired Hands.

I might be in. I haven't been to a meetup in a looooooooong time, but I'll really never say no to craft beer.

I love beer and cheese! And their Facebook says they have pickled okra! I am totally in for this.

If troublewithwolves prefers MWF and jetlagaddict can't do weekends, does that mean a Monday or Wednesday night is best? Mondays are, in general, easier for me than Wednesdays - the only Monday in October that wouldn't work for me is the 15th because I will be out of town. I think I could do Wednesdays on the 3rd or 17th but for some reason my Wednesdays have a bad habit of getting booked up most weeks.

Hooray for more things happening in the Philly area! If anyone else in the city is considering going to this, I will be heading out from center city on the R5 and it's totally easy to do on a weeknight and you should join me.

I'm in NJ and work in center city. I love Jessypie's idea about taking the R5 after work. So I might be up for this. Right now the only date that doesn't work for me is Wednesday 10/24.

Sounds great, but I'm not sure if I can make it- I work in NJ and get off at 6:00, so it's usually at least 6:30 or 6:45 before I've even found a parking space. I'll keep an eye on this, though; I might just drive directly there from work.

I might be in! Weeknights except for Tuesday are somewhat difficult for me (because I'm really lazy), but I'll put it on my calendar when the date gets set. And that brewery sounds pretty cool. Thanks, jetlagaddict, for arranging this!

Oh hooray for all of these responses! Unfortunately, Tired Hands is closed on Mondays, so it sounds like a Wednesday would be best. So, the 3rd, the 10th, or the 17th? I'm saving the 24th for a museum zombie costume contest meetup possibility...and I am also totally welcome to hanging out and drinking beer on multiple days if there's interest in more suburban meetups!

Hey, I made this a confirmed meetup for the 10th! Please let me know if you're still interested (hooray!) or if there's another time and place that would work better for you in the future. See you all soon!

I am putting myself down as a "maybe" because I have a work event on the 10th that I should probably go to, but could also skip without any consequences. I could do the 17th for sure. Either way I probably wouldn't get out there till more like 6 or so since I'd be taking the R5 out from center city.

Same as Jessypie, I have something planned for the 10th which I could potentially cancel. The plans are actually tentative at this point. The 17th is also good for me, but don't want you to change it on my account because I'm not 100% a yes. I would be coming out on the R5 and have to check the schedule but I know I can't be there at 5:30. I would think I can make it by 6:30 and I imagine you'd all still be there then?

Turns out I have a committee meeting on the 17th and have to be in the city, but there's also always November! I figured the starting time would be flexible; I'll try to head in early to snag space and drink all the beers taste test some pints.

Yes, let's try for November, before the holidays, maybe? Thank you so much for organizing, jetlagaddict!

Are we still on for the 10th, or is this being moved? I'm planning to go out there on Wednesday if we're still on, but if not I'll go to my work event.

I'm sorry I can't make it tomorrow! We only have one car, and my husband needs it tomorrow evening. Have a great time and I look forward to meeting you all in the near future!

Is this still a thing? It's totally walking distance from my job, so I don't have much of an excuse not to.

Hi,

Yes, still a thing! Or at least, I will be there, so while I can totally drink alone, I would love to have company. I will update this with my location and general appearance (I am thinking some sort of cryptic sign like [!] for the table) tomorrow; I'm aiming for 5:45 since 5:30 seemed a bit too early for everyone.

So, I'm excited....

From their Facebook page:

"The second in our "Iconic Monsters" series, CREATURE is a 5.1% ESB (elegant squash bitter) brewed with 70lbs of local Sucrine du Berry squash in the mash. If pumpkin beers are your thing, get in here and experience the glory of the gourd tonight! Lush notes of earth, cinnamon, bread, and toffee."

and

"Our Beautiful Bacon & Blue! Double smoked Green Meadow Farms Bacon, Birchrun Hills Farm Blue, roasted apples, caramelized shallots, and house-made apricot/cherry dijon mustard!"

So Mainliners (and everyone!) interested in pumpkin beers and bacon everything, come and join us tonight! I look like a librarian in a bright spice/pumpkin-colored sweater.
