A test balloon to gauge interest in an event from folks in Bloomington-Normal, Champaign-Urbana, Peoria, Springfield, Galesburg, Decatur, and surrounds.
As we're pretty spread out I think we'd either have to pick an event (state fair? DCI in Bloomington? A ren faire?) that people are likely to attend anyway and have a "side" meetup, or let the U of I folks pick something and the rest of us go there, since they're probably the largest group.
I'd definitely be interested. (I'm one of those U of I folks.)

Depending on when and where, the missus and I might be talked into this, but it'd be a drive, so it would have to be linked to something else.

C/U is pretty monastic during the summer (i.e. boring), but things do pick up in late August. Later still, there is the Pygmalion Music Festival, September 27-29 at which my band is playing on the Saturday. The three-day pass is rather pricey, but individual show tickets are available, and Saturday will be an all-day outdoor show.
I can't think of any other fun/imminent things right now, but feel free to out-sleuth me by consulting smilepolitely.com for local happenings.
In other news, I have recently parted with my pub trivia team, thus entering a period of free agency. We were competing on Sundays at Cowboy Monkey, but I'm really not attached to that venue or quizmaster. The Blind Pig brewery also has Sunday trivia, and I'm keen on checking that out sometime.

I'm in! I am up for either the Pygmalion Festival or pub quiz or something else in the exotic land outside Champaign-Urbana. All good.

I live in Champaign and spend a lot of time in Peoria, so I am up for anything fun and immature.

I'd also be interested. I'm flexible about when/where.

I could be persuaded to come out of my cave without much difficulty.

Maybe one of our Chambana folks could take point and pick a time and place, after the semester is in swing? Since it seems like Chambana has more folks in it than elsewhere in the area.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? Classes have started up again, so I assume most people will be around now.
