I vote for a Cafe Brazil location somewhere, though this weekend doesn't work for me. I'm in the far north dallas/richardson area.

My only issue with Cafe Brazils is that they aren't really conducive for large parties sitting around and shooting the shit for a while.

We could try to get a table at Cane Rosso (pizza) in Deep Ellum for their Wednesday night BYOB, or something similar. Trinity Hall, perhaps? A Gloria's somewhere in the area?

Just throwing out ideas.

I'm down for any kind of meetup place, so long as the street address can be found on my GPS (Ft Worth resident here - don't know much of Dallas outside of how to find Good Records).

I vote that there's nothing surprisingly nice about this heat.

I vote that I really don't like Trinity Hall. At all. (I also vote that I'm a poet and don't know it.)

I vote that Gloria's sounds good, especially if it's the north Oak Cliff location - it's roomy and it's in an old firehouse to boot.

I vote that I'm in Lubbock at the moment visiting a friend and will come back to this thread when I come back to Dallas.

A good BYOB all the time place is Mai's Vietnamese which is at Bryan and Fitzhugh (east Dallas). Just throwing that out.

Also, while I have never been permanently barred from ever setting foot inside a Cafe Brazil again, I would be willing to commit an act of nudity at one of their locations soon if it were to mean that we'd have to schedule elsewhere.

Frisco-dweller here, totally willing to venture into Dallas proper, or pretty much anywhere within 50 miles or so, provided this happens on a day I have free. At this point, that's looking like the first weekend of August at the earliest.

I'm game, and in Plano so anywhere is good. C Brazil seems unpopular. Never been to Gloria's it might be preferable to the dudebro-heavy Greenville.

Gloria's in Oak Cliff will work for me. Having never been to that location, is it hard to find parking?

As far as a date, I'm out of town on 7/28 and 8/11. I should be available on Sunday afternoons & weekday evenings (other than Mondays).

Ok, now that I'm back around (sick for a few days), I'll start suggesting dates. Are we better on a weekend of weekday? I was going to suggest something like a Wednesday or Thursday afternoon. Bolsa has $5 cocktails on Wednesday afternoon, but the bar scene picks up fast. Gloria's might be the better bet.

Gloria's has complimentary valet at the Oak Cliff location. Outside of that, parking can be difficult to find in that area. However, if free valet works then it shouldn't be a problem.

I've been to Bolsa during the week and it isn't near as crowded as it is on weekends. It might be an issue with a big group though. Gloria's also has pretty decent happy hour Sunday thru Thursday so during the week might be a good idea - Wednesday or Thursday.

I know that Ufez is no longer in Dallas; I honestly have no idea about any of the others.

As the originator of the OC Gloria's suggestion, I am behind my idea 100%. I'll leave the details to hugndpint as she's sitting on the couch next to me.

I prefer weekends, but weekdays are fine so long as the meetup starts at 6pm or later, which should give me time to make it there from work.

I maybe might be able to make the 4th at 5pm, depending on what the man's gigs are that night. Not looking good at the moment. Argh. We're in Memphis the week after so it would be Aug.11 before I could try again.

Is Friday the 27th totally out? I can do that one.

The first two dates & times that hugandpint listed work well for me. I'm out of town on 7/28 & 8/10-8/12. I can make any date other than those four work if need be though.

There will be no fizzling out because hugandpint won't allow such a thing to happen. As for me, I'm just along for the ride.

From the looks of things, we're going to have to schedule this on a date that at least one person can't make. Maybe someone could do a quick flameout? Of course, that'd make that person in higher demand for a meetup.

I'm leaving town the 30th of July! The 26th or 27th would be best for me, but I'm OK with missing out if another day works best for everyone else. I'll just have to hang out with the cool kids (?) in New Orleans instead.

I'm sorry guys, I don't think I'll be back from Austin in time. However, if traffic is good, the roads are clear, and I haven't had to nuke i35 from space just on principle; I'll try to make it.

Guys, I hate to do this, but I'm going to have to back out for this evening. I'm in the middle of my PhD qualifying exams, and I thought I'd have it wrapped up by today, but I'm having a lot of problems. I hope people still meet up and enjoy - please let us know how it goes, and we'll do it again next month (when I'm not a bundle of nerves).
