So this was the event The Chicago Cabal* was hoping to do but the list was already full. One of the organizers just reached out to me today because they had a whole group of six volunteers bail and they're really hoping we can fill the gap and help them throw a great birthday party for some wonderful kids! I know there are a bunch of expectant MeFi parents in the DC area (and maybe some recent parents?) so I thought it would be nice if we could have a meetup to keep ourselves sane(ish) and get a chance to check in with other intelligent, thoughtful adults going through the same thing. Everyone who wants to come is welcome, just know that the conversation might center around, like, babies and whatnot. I expect this to be this Saturday afternoon, April 16th. [more inside]

I'd like to have a picnic at Roxhill Park and hang out while kids play on the (exciting, new) playground. (There's also a skatepark, a large field, and a marsh walk.) Who wants to come hang out on a non-pouring-rain Saturday afternoon? (There's only a 10% chance of rain next Saturday, at least right now, so maybe then?) Update: let's meet at noon on Saturday, 3 May. I'll still be there if there's light rain.
