Guillermo Gómez-Peña and his radical performance art group La Pocha Nostra are hosting a "extreme fashion show and photo performance karaoke" with participants of a week-long performance workshop - including yours truly! It was recently announced that the 92nd Street Y is officially closing its downtown venue, where "Meet The Lady" and other fine arts programs have had their homes for years. That means that this Friday's installment, Meet The Lady Is Watching You! (a tribute to stalker cinema) is your last chance to catch erstwhile mefite hermitosis's lady-centric variety show, which grew out of a MeFi Project back in 2010 and has since welcomed guests such as Amy Sedaris, Nellie McKay, and Beth Grant. My drunken mumblings at MeFieri 2 revealed that I do burlesque, and I'm working on an act that will be at the Slipper Room. I don't want to reveal much because I leave that for the stage, but I'm hoping it will be fun and amusing. And hey, the Slipper Room does good cocktails.
