Sun December 4 at 2:00 PM, Private Apartment
Columbus Cir, New York, NY, USA (Map & Directions)
Hey, New Yorkers, come wrap toys for the holiday gift drive with us!
spec80 is once again hosting a brunch party to wrap the gifts shipped to her house for the MetafilterCares gift drive. The party will be held at spec80's apartment, which is near Columbus Circle. Due to space limitations, the guest list is limited to 10 people (not including the two of us and our spouses), and we'll need your names in advance for the doorman. I'll send out directions to the apartment closer to the event date.

Thing to bring: your own pair of scissors. All other wrapping materials will be provided.

Thanks for helping out!

I really wanted to come last year and couldn't, so this year I'm in!

My browser is acting up and won't let me RSVP, but be assured, I'm in!

Ah! I did this last year. I would be most happy to help out again. Except I have a class at 3pm. =(

Good luck and have fun, wonderful people!

I don't know how good I am at wrapping gifts, but it sounds like fun.

That's too bad, Eideteker! You will be missed!

kkokkodalk, no wrapping skills required! If you can use scissors without drawing blood, you're good to go. (Bring wrapping paper. And tape. Lots of tape.)

Unlike last year, the 2011 wrapathon does not coincide with the 2011 SantaCon, so you probably won't encounter any drunken pantsless caroling Santas in transit. Apologies for that.

(Ignore the parenthetical above.)

The pants-less Santa who fell on to the subway tracks was a wonder to behold.

I may be able to make it, although my wrapping skills leave much to be desired. ;)

Yes! It will be just me this time, Kev will be home with the baby.

Looking forward to it!

I finally managed to get myself RSVPd properly. Phew.

By the way, is the goal just to get the gifts physically covered with wrapping paper, or can we get a little more funky and decorative with our wrapping? (I, for one, am a big fan of belly bands on gifts.)

Anything goes!

Well apparently I have to go bowling at 1:30. Any chance this will still be going on at 3:15ish?

I'm not really sure when it will end, but you can text one of us. I will MeMail you my cell.

Apologies. I just pulled myself off the "Maybe" list. I just found out I'm going to have to go to Connecticut for a family funeral. There's no way I'd be back in time. :(

Sorry to hear that, zarq.

I have MeMailed the address of the party to everyone who has confirmed they are attending above. Maybes, you need to confirm your attendance and e-mail or MeMail me for the address. Thanks all!

Sorry to change my reply to no at the last minute. It has been a tough couple of weeks and I'm just not up for social interactions involving tape and scissors, even though I was looking forward to figuring out exactly how many pairs of scissors I own.

Thanks all! I added a photo of some of our wrapped loot!

Thanks for coming! I had a lot of fun!

Thank you TPS for spearheading the effort!!

Yay! Wrapping the bicycles was surprisingly less hard than some of the smaler items.

Gah! I was up most of the night and didn't hear my alarm.

My deep apologies.
