Tue October 18 at 7:00 PM, Little Woodrow's EaDo
2019 Walker St, Houston, TX, USA (Map & Directions)
Our variably-named pub trivia team has been invited to a different venue in Houston for our next get together, and we're rescheduling it!
Gene, the first quizmaster gridlockjoe, jph and I encountered when starting up our Geeks Who Drink events, has invited us to try out one of his hosted quiz nights at a different venue than our usual haunt:
At some point, you'll have to come check out the Tuesday night game at Little Woodrow's EaDo. We've got a pretty good crowd going (16ish teams) and our sound system is better. I love Maple Leaf though and have been thinking of dropping in for a game there.
He's a cool guy (he was our QM for those of us that attended the special queer quiz night at Maple Leaf) and I think we should at least consider accepting his invitation for our next get-together. Yeah, there's no steak, no jalapeno poppers, no prizes for taking silver or gold (as far as I know) but I'm putting it out here to see what y'all think. Better sound system sounds awfully nice!

Urf. I think that's the ex's hang.

Urf. I think that's the ex's hang.

Living well is the best revenge...

Also, I may have 3 guests this time. And one of them is supposedly stuffed to the gills with trivia about movies and TV.

Although I have to admit, I've never noticed that he had gills. But perhaps he keeps his piscine assets privatized.

Then again, perhaps he keeps his privatized assets piscinized.

Well, why don't we make this a thing and see how it goes? See y'all next Tuesday!

I have hurt my shoulder--again--so I'm likely to miss this outing. Joe, would you take over MeFi IRL hosting duties here? Thanks :-)

(uh, if you want to make a new event, I'll cancel this one I guess?)

Go ahead and cancel this one... but I do have a purely selfish request: Can we try Woodrow's two weeks later (on the 18th)? I ask because I won't be in town for the regular Thursday on the 20th, and thought we could do Maple Leaf next Thursday and Woodrow's the week after...

On second thought, don't cancel this one, reschedule it for the 18th and I'll set up a new one for Maple Leaf next Thursday.

Okee dokee.

According to the web site, it starts at 7pm, not 8.

Thanks for the headsup! I would have been unfashionably late.

i hope someone has a metafilter sign or something. Or i'll ask the quizmaster to point you all out.

I updated the time, but I'm afraid I won't be able to make it. Busted shoulder is still busted. Good luck y'all. Miss ya! Do well! Be nice to Freecola :-)

I'm not going to make it after all. My allergies are kicking my butt today, and combined with my lack of sleep this week means I'm barely functional. I tried to talk Laurie into going anyway and bringing her friend, but she said no.

If it's just me, I'm going to call it off and plan for two weeks from now.
