The Siawnses are taking a wee holiday to China; we will be in Beijing on the night of the August 12th (among other nights). Do any Beijinger MeFites fancy a meetup then? Is a Friday night a dumb time to meet in Beijing? Anybody know a good place to go? Please feel free to give advice on locations/times, because I basically have no clues when it comes to what's what in Beijing.
I might be in on the 19th from Shenzhen, but it depends on how work pans out. Can't make the 12th alas.

Well, we're staying on Wangzhima Hutong, just off Dongsibei Dajie; is there anywhere promising near there? Sadly, we'll be down in Shandong on the 19th so I think we'll miss you, arcticseal.

Not sure if I can attend, but I strongly recommend Great Leap Brewing for a location. Amazing tree canopied courtyard to sit in while enjoying fantastic craft beers. It's also within very easy walking distance of where you're staying. No food service on site, so people order delivery from one of several nearby restaurants.

I'm a Boston MeFite but I will be in Beijing on the 9th-12th. I was going to take an overnight train to Shanghai that night but I would like to meet up for a beer or something before I leave.

Well, I wasn't particularly attached to the night of the 12th, so if it's more convenient for KevCed, let's do the 11th instead. And we might as well go with Great Leap Brewing if there are no objections. I'll go ahead and confirm the location/date, but if there are any objections then just say and I can change it about later if needs be.

Great Leap is very handy for me too, so fine with that. I'm a bit of a snob about their admittedly tasty beer mind - cloudy as me dad's homebrew!

I should also be able to make it! I'm leaving Beijing in a few weeks so it'll be nice to see the Beijing MeFi group one more time.
