Come hang out with Torontonians! Board games may happen, drinks and food are a given.
Link to the venue in question. Oh, and at least three MeFites have birthdays within a day of August 14th, so cake may manifest itself in mysterious ways.

This is a possibility for me, as I'll be in the area visiting cousins in Missisauga (sp?). Lemme get my plans with them firmed up, and then I'll be able to figure out Saturday. Thanks to typewriter for pointing this out via MeCha.

This is looking like more of a reality for me, 'cause my cousin asked me what I wanted to while I was in town next week. I had no idea how to tell him that instead of hanging in Toronto during the week while he's at work, I wanted him to drop me off at the train station on Saturday so I could see some other IRL friends and then meet a bunch of strangers from the Internet for board games before my flight home the next day.
Suggestions? Also, does anyone mind if I bring a deck of Fluxx cards? Or start a 1,000 Blank Cards deck? Ooh... 1,000 Blank MeFi Cards...

Dropping out of this one because I just found out that an older set of Internet-nerd friends are doing their annual TO meeting that weekend and they will have fancy dress and possibly sangria on the porch.

*Probably* won't be able to make this one. I got a pal riding a bike from Cleveland to Erieau (yes, really) and I'm going to meet him there. So unless somebody's got an Erieau meetup planned (OH HELL YES) I'm going to leave myself as a weak maybe. Maybe, because hey, he might not make it, right?

Most meetups go on quite late, and we're barely warming up by 9:45. But you'll have to bring puppy pictures, OK? (A pic of the puppy puking on Rob Ford's truck would be even better.)

OK, that was a really good meetup. It was an awfully muggy night, and some people *cough* ended up draped over the free-standing air-conditioning unit and proposing marriage, but except for a couple of tables on the patio, we had the place to ourselves and were able to talk, eat, drink, and play games just about anywhere we wanted. And once again, we closed the place.
The only thing that sucked was that we were missing a few of you. Next time!

I really enjoyed this venue - we could actually hear each other talk! Group Jenga was hilarious; Apples to Apples closing out the night was fantastic. Met some great new (to me) people. AAA++++ VERY GOOD TIME WILL MEET UP AGAIN

Argh, we missed Apples to Apples? I had even brought my copy along but it seemed there were no boardgames in the offing, so it stayed in the bag.
Anyway, Wendy and I had a blast -- nice to see so many fine folks, even f the temperature and humidity were more like a Brazilian rainforest than Toronto.
